I did not expect this product to be as good as it is. I had been pricing the top end models and became frustrated because both the top Garmin and the top Tom Tom models were pre-order only and not yet available. I was going to do quite a bit of driving over the holidays, so decided to buy a cheaper version to see if it was a toy or the real deal. It is the real deal. At first I was upset that it did not recognize my zip code or the names of even the largest cities in my state, but I got on my computer and used my Streets and Trips and determined the longitude and latitude of all my locations and low and behold! The directions were perfect. I expected more errors on maps that the unit couldn't find initially, but I only found one and it was a very confusing intersection to start with, but since the hospital I was going to was insight, it was easy to see which way was correct. I am exceptionally pleased with my purchase.

Before I purchased this product, I checked a leading consumer report. Tom Tom One was rated a Best Buy at $300, so at the price Amazon charged, it was a no-brainer!
My wife and I were taking a trip from New York to South Carolina, so we broke in our Tom Tom on the trip! It performed flawlessly! I must say that the print is a little small on the " time to go" and 'arrival time", and I have bifocal sunglasses, so the first part of our trip I became too optimistic, reading "time to go" as arrival time, so when I put my regular glasses on as the sun went down, it came into focus that our drive time was 8:08, not our arrival time! Lesson learned, no fault of the Tom Tom.
I appreciate the ease of getting a destination into the unit, the sensuous female voice (the same I encountered when I got a Tom Tom in Europe in a rental.) and the patience she has when a wrong turn is made. It is a great unit regardless of the price!

Before buying this GPS I looked at all the competition. I chose this one due to the size (its thinner than most of the others), its general look and of course the price.
I have now owned it for about 6 months and I'm still over the moon with it. It has always got me from A to B, usually quicker than the way I knew. I have also taken it all over the US and it has proved invaluable. It's so small I can slip it in a pocket and place it in hire cars.
The website enables you to download a number of features for free. I downloaded extra voices and a color scheme that was designed to match the night-time interior of my VW.
This GPS has more features than the others I looked at and at a cheaper price. I would have liked the bluetooth feature to work as a hands-free speaker and microphone for my phone. However you get what you pay for and the next model up offers this. For the price I can't complain.

I really enjoy the ease and workability of the TomTomOne. It is much better than the built in models because I can use it in both of my cars. As a matter of fact, several people have borrowed it for their use and some have bought their own. Its size and screen visibilty is perfect for my needs. I also like the ability of plugging into my computer to power the battery and upgrade the maps. The online services offered are also a major plus. I am still playing around with the many features, too much extras for my needs but still a fun product. There are times when the voice directions does not match up with the screen directions but if you pay attention to the screen map it is a minor inconvience. I would highly recommend it for its size, program directions and mobility. I have even used it to get walking directions while visiting Chicago. it beats driving around lost and not wanting to stop for directions, you know the male thing.Customer Review: this gadget gets you there

Well, I have been using my new TomTom for a few weeks now and I LOVE the fact that it can recalculate itself if I take a wrong turn to my destination. It will seek out an alternate route from my new location.
Only drawbacks I have found are 2 places where roads have been moved in the past year, so TomTom tries to take me to places that no longer exist. In a case near my house, it was no problem, because I was well aware of it, but last week it went fluey because the restaurant I was looking for wasn't where it was supposed to be, it was a gas station. haha. I have so much less stress driving with this GPS navagating system. If I need to get someplace I have never been before, I formerly used MapQuest.com and their directions are horrible. I would be stressed the whole time trying to follow them,...but with my new friend TomTom in the car with me, he tells me when to turn and such, no reading required. LOVE IT!!!
