Great GPS unit that does what is supposed to do and flawlessly at that. Clear easy to read display and instructions. Menus and interface are self-intuitive to the degree that you just turn it on and start using it. No downloads, activations or learning required.
Satellite acquisition takes just a few seconds and recalculation when you miss a turn or instruction is equally fast. Accuracy is impressive with spot-on instructions and updated maps. Even small streets in rural areas are recognized and labeled.
After looking at the Garmin and Magellan units I thought this was the best unit for the price. It has the largest screen and the most features for this price range. A previous reviewer complained about the misrepresentation of Bluetooth capabilities to which I completely disagree. The fact the Bluetooth features are available at this price range is already impressive. Also unless you buy a much pricier unit none of them come with a dashboard stand. All manufacturers seem to sell them as options (Garmin included).

A decade ago I bought the first ever Garmin Street Pilot - no model number because it was the first. It was a neat gray-scale toy, but it did little more than show you where you are and what's around you. It was too much effort to plan your own routes, so we never did. We still have it. We watched as the technology exploded and waited for the prices to fall. Last year we tried a no-name piece of junk that threw temper-tantrums at us if we went a different way, and spent more time crashing and rebooting than navigating. We returned it.
This time I did more research, and bought a TomTom. I LOVE MY TOMTOM! It is fast and accurate, and obviously designed by drivers! I refused to by anything based on Windows CE, and although I haven't had it very long yet, TomTom hasn't crashed once. It calculates routes FAST, and recalculates quickly (and without tantrums or U-turns) if we go a different way. It zooms out when you drive faster, and zooms in when you approach a turn. Icing on the cake!

I have now bought two of the Tom Tom ones for my son and step-daughter. The beauty of this item is its portability. You can pop it into a pocket or purse and for the most part, the directions are dead on. My step-daughter recently drove from CT to NC without getting lost, which gives me, as a parent, great peace of mind knowing that she will arrive to her destination safe and sound.
My son uses the Tom Tom for his work doing pizza delivery. He has noticed that his tips are increasing because of his ability to get to the patron's homes without mishap. Also, when he doesn't need the unit, then his sisters will have access to it. Heck, the price is so good that I just may buy another one for the girls.
I highly recommend any of the Tom Tom products. If you want an economical but very excellent GPS, then I would suggest getting the Tom Tom One. If you need a few more bells and whistles, then stay with the Tom Tom product family and purchase a model up.

For our work trucks we use Tom Tom One's New Edition. They are great for getting trucks around the city and when setup properly every time you enter a destination you can select to: Avoid Highways, Shortest, Fastest, Limited Speed, etc... we use the Avoid Highways and take back roads into the city almost daily and helps us get there on time!!!
As stated they are in work trucks and decently harsh conditions... I've seen them hold up to being dropped, sat on, and poked pretty hard. The one that broke was eventually due to being left in the truck in the extreme heat of 100+ degrees outside so we think it basically melted on the inside being closed in the truck.
Unfortunatly the units that were stolen were believed to be taken by an x-employee our fault for not locking them up and being to trusting.
The other two that are still in use are used daily and we will be adding more soon, once we get a locking cabinet.

Customer Review: New/Recent Amazon Buyers Beware

I ordered my Tomtom One unit after much research (comparing to many different units such as Garmin SP c330) and reading many reviews. I was convinced this was the GPS unit for me. Amazon sells this unit through Ace Photo and Digital - the one I received was clearly not brand new. It did not walk me through a setup process, was already pre-programmed in a different language and was looking (at first) for a satellite on the West Coast (i'm on the East Coast). It also had some Calif. addresses pre-programmed in. So I will come back and offer a full review... whenever they send me a new unit and take back this blatant return. On the plus side it did appear at first glance to have everything promised. Please note this is not an issue with Tomtom or even Amazon, but rather their third party seller. I just wanted to share with prospective buyers my experience so they are not given a used/refurbished unit. It should prompt you for setup at first - if not - send it back!
