Customer Review: Lost No More. . . thanks to my TomTom One
Summary: 5 Stars

I have chronic fatigue syndrome. Many may not know how that relates to this product. I bought the TomTom software initially to run on my PalmZire. I found it relieved a LOT of stress in my life. Before I bought my home and BEFORE I had any GPS realtors would give me lists of homes to drive around and look at. Well, that method took FIVE years for me to find my house. I'm sure if I had the TomTom back then, I would have found a house in maybe FIVE weeks, instead. This device is compact, all in one; no more separate battery pack to activate; no more will I find myself in the truck ready to roll and discover the Palm needed a charge and dumped the TomTom program. In that instance I needed to have my computer handy so I could reinstall. I just bought this upgrade today and so far am extremely happy. PLEASE, everyone who reads this and uses a GPS--IF YOU find errors in your travels, take the time to report it using the feedback system. No one can fix what they don't know is broken. It does no good to complain, "The GPS is wrong.", if you don't do your small part to help us all keep it updated. I do feel EVERY box should include a case and lanyard.

Customer Review: Everyone Should Get 'One'!
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this last week and am absolutely in love with it! I had to use it right away after I got it, and I did. I literally took the device out of the box, followed a few easy instructions to get started, entered in my destination and off I went! It worked great. So clear and easy to use. I can't imagine anyone driving without one, seriously. Like many have said in the other reviews, not the most up to date as far as maps go but still good enough. I'm glad I can go online and download any updates for free. I can now drive with a peace of mind knowing I will not get lost as long as I have this baby with me. Some people have mentioned that the instructions are not that great, but in my opinion it's really not that hard to figure out. If you click around a little, you'll figure it out in no time. Very user-friendly.

It's too bad the battery life is only two hours, though. It's good to have a car charger and a home charger. You can also charge using your USB cable connected to your computer, but it's a slow charge (up to 4 hours for a full charge).

Go get ONE!

Customer Review: Great Navigation System at a low price...
Summary: 5 Stars

I was not sure which portable navigation system to get for our road trip to Albany NY, with a side trip to Niagara Falls. I had previously owned older Garmin products like the eMap, and was planning on getting a Garmin Nuvi or something similar. However, after trying out the latest Garmin products, I found the user interface to be annoying, and was also put off by their high prices. I then tried a TomTom ONE XL and found it to be very easy to use and intuitive. However, when I compared the ONE XL to the original ONE, I discovered that I actually preferred the non-widescreen of the smaller TomTom ONE! Maybe this was because the widescreen on the XL had more of a stretched look to it? Not sure, but I went for the smaller ONE and I am glad I did. At a cost of approximately $150-$170 less than the ONE XL, the ONE performed flawlessly and navigated me through unfamiliar territory. I would also recommend getting the custom case for it for another $20. All in all the TomTom ONE is worth every penny and actually a real bargain considering the cost of other navagation devices.

Customer Review: Wonderful Vacation Travel Companion
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased my first GPS nav device (the Tomtom ONE) in April '07. I used it for relatively short local trips near home in NC and it worked flawlessly. Using it is easy and fairly intuitive. The windshield mount is excellent - it never came unintentionally detatched. But the real test of the device came on an 8-day vacation trip to Savannah, GA, St. Augustine, FL, and the Orlando, FL area at the end of May. Hotels, theme parks, restaurants and movies were found w/o a hitch. It made navigating in an unfamiliar location much less tense or stressful. I especially like the display indicators that show the distance to the next turn and the distance/estimated time to the final destination. Exploring side roads and making detours on a whim were accomplished without drama or fear of getting lost/disoriented because Tomtom was so accomplished at getting us back on the right trail to the intended destination. A paper map was never needed nor missed during the trip. I highly recommend this device. I think I paid something like $250 for an on-line order from Crutchfield.com.

Customer Review: So far, So good
Summary: 5 Stars

I've only had this device a couple of days, but it is great so far. Some things are a little strange in its user interface, but once you get the hang of it, it is easy to use. I only have a couple of minor complaints with this GPS system. They are mainly with the TomTom desktop software, and their website. You MUST download the latest TomTom Home software, and do not use the TomTom Home software that is included on the DVD. I also have some complaints with newest version of the desktop software, but it will do for now. And their website states if you buy this by March 31, you can get a free map update (+ shipping). Ok, but I had to call them to figure out how not to be charged for it.

The device is great for the price. It's fairly smart. It will even try to guess you're position when you are not getting a signal. We have some long tunnels around here, and it started informing my of my next turn while I was in the tunnel with no signal. It guessed fairly close, because when it reacquired the satellite, it was only of my a few yards. Cool.
