I just received my Tom-Tom One GPS system after ordering it through Accessory Genie via Amazon for $195.00 which I think was the best all-around deal for GPS units on the site. I received it right away in the box with the easy to follow instruction booklet and car-charger. It comes with a suction cup that you can put on your car window. The unit moves around it different angles easil which comes in handy to avoid sun-glare. The touch screen is real easy to use. You can pop it into your car and use it as soon as it is taken out of the box. I tested it out with the British 'Tim' voice to go to the Grocery store and it does so much more than I thought it would! There are zoom in/out functions, day/night colours, points of interest along the way, optional traffic reports, various voices and languages, and I just love how it immediately recalculates the route automatically when you turn on a different corner. And how nice to see the gas stations coming up, really handy when you are going out of town on a loooong highway. Love it and wish I had bought it earlier on as it would have saved me so much grief from attempting to read and find a location on those annoying paper maps. And no need to even have to look at the screen if you don't feel like it as the vocal instructions are so good, along with the reminders which give you "300 feet, 50 feet, turn now and you will arive at your destination in 50 feet!" Now I feel very comfortable driving to unknown places and feel like a real James Bond in my little Tercel when I drive my car. Used it for one day so far around OKC and it works really well! Contrary to other reviews* This unit has NO SMART CARD in the slot or in the box. The SW is on it's internal memory. Right out of the box it works and needs no authorization or codes. Simple set up for US/CAN Mi/Km stuff like that.
From power on until it's ready takes about 20 seconds or so and gets full sig strength. Inputing address is easy also.
Like others have said, It may try and route you thru a busy intersection. If you know a better route and take it, TomTom quickly recalculates your route and continues to guide you in your new direction. I purposely missed my street and TT wanted me to make the next right, Then after some tracks it wanted me to make a u turn. But from where i was.. A U turn made perfect sense.
*FYI, You need to go into the menu/Pref's and select "Speed" if you want it to display your speed. Kinda important to me since the Speedometer doesn't work in the Blazer. It also has about 8 voices you can choose from.
I'm really pleased with this GPS and i'd buy it all over again knowing what i do after using it today. Especially since the price has come down so much on it :)
It comes with a car adapter and a USB plug for the computer and a suction cup mount and a CD Rom. All are pretty good quality and are NOT cheesy at all.. You'll like it if all you want is a good GPS to get you where you want to go.

The Tom Tom One has been exactly what I had figured it would be and that is very operational and helpful, especially for the price I received my Tom Tom One.
It fit right into my car (Yukon) nicely and is not a hazard or distraction and has a daytime and night time lighting that is beneficial. The Tom Tom is loud at the highest setting and easy to follow.
I am still learning all of the options and learning the options is easy. The unit was easy to start out of the box and the instructions are easy to follow.
I am still learneing how to keep it zoomed out to the level that I want it at while driving, but that is the only thing I have not been able to manipulate easy, but I am sure I will get it soon.
I would recommend the Tom Tom One to anyone who is looking for a basic navigational system. Its small but the screen is easy to see while driving and the voice over allows you to never look at the unit while in traffic but still prepares you for upcoming turns and merges, etc...
The Tom Tom one is portable and can be taken from the car and placed in your front pocket of any average collered shirt. It says it has 2-3 hours of life once taken from the charger, but I have found my unit has more life than that, so in case you need to take a boat ride on the lake, you can take it with you and navigate your general areas on the lake in a boat as well.
I like my Tom Tom one and am very pleased at the price I had to pay to get it as well.

Considering my first GPS and not wanting to spend excessively, I store-tested the Garmin Nuvi 200, Mio C220 and Tomtom One. All nice but the Nuvi 200 cannot set up an itenerary as it will store only one waypoint. The Mio C220 has a terrible audio system, needing to be adjusted both in the hardware and software and still the volume (with the 2 tested) is almost inaudible in the store. In a vehicle? In the store, neither the clerk nor I could get the Mio to do a route simulation in anything but plodding real time speed. Tomtom One can easily be set to run the sim up to 500%. It is far superior on these points. Not having text to speech is not proving to be a negative at all. When the voice says "turn..." I turn. I will be right at the turning point and don't need the street name spoken. The two-hour Tomtom One battery life is no problem. I charge off the Mac keyboard and recharge with the DC cord in the car while driving . I found noboddy's maps are ever completely up to date so don't throw away your Thomas Guide. When my Tomtom One couldn't locate a new street, I located the proposed route in the Thomas Guide, navigated to a nearby existing intersection and eye-balled from there. Tomtom One gtabs 4-7 satellites quickly and holds them. It displays moving Lattitude and Longitude, compass, shows turns in advance, tells me which lane to drive in, etc. I can't use the windshield mount in CA but don't need it. I just set the GPS on the seat or in my shirt pocket and listen to Mandy.Customer Review: Love it!

I first bought Garmin C340 due to the high praises Amazon users give it, but I was rudely disappointed, C340 gives you no choices to customize a route(meaning you cannot create an alternative route, avoid certain streets, or go by way of certain streets) I listed to the advice of a friend and purchased Tom Tom One! I must say I love this GPS, true that its a bit weak in the software component and the customer service aspect but as a unit it's great! It routes VERY FAST! It gives very SHORT AND FAST directions (routes are similar to Google Maps; which gives excellent directions!) I love the fact that I can calculate alternative routes or avoid certain streets/bridges/avenues/etc. I took the unit on a 125mile road trip and it did not faulter for a second! It re-routed me in about 30 seconds when I missed my exit and it gives excellent directions without telling me the street names. POI database is weak but I dont use the GPS for that so that doesnt bother me, and I have heard of complaints about the unit not being able to find OLD HOUSES! This is also not a concern for me since every route in NYC that I needed, was succesfully routed to by Tom Tom. Overall this unit is a little gem! Its the cheapest and most reliable GPS I had! It has some weak spots but if you care about pure driving directions and the ability NOT TO GET LOST! You will love this unit, if you want POI, Customer Service, and PC "Emulators" you might be saddenned. But take my word for it, I love it!
