For a simple, easy to use device the TomTom ONE 140-s is great. It doesn't have super fancy functionality but it does what you really need in a GPS receiver. It's easy to navigate, easy to enter addresses and the voice navigation is loud enough to cut through road noise and a loud radio.
I got this as a gift for my mom who is pretty capable with electronics but not a gadget nerd. She easily picked up all the different functionality without reading the manual. We took it for a test drive and she was impressed with the easy input of addresses and the good directions it gave. Also of note is the lane notification functionality which is very helpful for multi-lane highways. The device also recalculates pretty quickly so you don't have to worry about being led off course in the event of traffic or a closed road.
This isn't the fanciest GPS receiver but for someone who doesn't want to take up a lot of space and just needs basic functionality this is a perfect unit.

I briefly had a Garmin GPS which was appalling. On the advice of another TomTom user, I replaced it with the TomTom 140-S and am delighted. The product is much easier to use, totally reliable, and the maps are actually accurate. Further, they are very clearly shown on the screen, unlike the Garmin. Whereas the Garmin didn't have a clue where I was going and wildly misdirected me in my OWN neighborhood on a final irritated test run, the TomTom is flawless so far.
I think the TomTom will especially appeal to the non-technical person, because it is so easy to understand. And the TomTom website is full of answers to a beginner's questions. More importantly, a live technical support person can be reached within a minute or two, and they know what they are doing too!
I especially like the spoken street names available with this version, when you choose a computer voice. That plus outstanding directions make it a joy to use.

We just received this and I used it for my trip to work this morning. As soon as I turned it on, it guided me through all of the steps necessary to get it up and running for my location, time zone and display needs. This will be replacing an older MIO GPS, and I couldn't be happier so far.
In addition to its ease of use, it is very small and sleek, and the mounting arm is very simple to attach to the unit itself. Like many GPS's it has numerous voices, and display settings, but though we are techno-savvy, this one was much easier to set up than our older Mio. Highly recommend!

I love this little gadget. I had previously owned another GPS from Tom Tom's competitor and I really do prefer the Tom Tom brand. The map seems to be a bit easier to predict upcoming turns and the audible navigation is very easy to understand. Love the trip preprogramming function (program an entire trip BEFORE departing). Just the right size. With the flat back, it easily slips into a briefcase, purse, etc.
Great electronic device. Only problem is that I am not sure I could ever live without one again! LOVE IT!!

We purchased the Tom Tom for my daughter for her 19th birthday...a few weeks prior to her birthday she purchased her first vehicle and somehow manged to turn what should have been a 2 hour drive back to university into a 4 hour + trip!!! .....soooo we thought about just giving her some paper maps but then chose the TomTom ....she absolutely loves it! very easy to use and install. I would recommend this to any parent with a child that drives.......she is very impressed with the ease of use, there are is barely any need for her to take her eyes off the road with the turn by turn spoken directions. its perfect!TomTom ONE 140 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator
