I unpacked the Tivax, wired it up per instructions, turned on it and my TV, ran through the auto search process and everything worked fine. I've been using rabbit ears for years with adequate results. The results now with Tivax and the digital signals are better and more uniform across channels. The instructions are spare. The most important thing to realize is that there is a significant lag between pushing the 'on' button and the red light changing to green. Secondarily, I was surprised to realize that Tivax (and I consequently assume all converters) essentially replace and take over the basic operating functions within your TV: channel tuning and pre-selection, picture quality, volume, etc. Bottom line, I am quite satisfied with the Tivax.Customer Review: Excellent Picture and Sound

I bought two units from Amazon about a month ago. I was unable to use both coupons together at the checkout, so I did separate purchases.
Setup took less than 10 minutes. The image quality and sound were excellent with old rabbit ears antenna. The signal strength was 100 for many channels (I live about 15 miles from downtown Indianapolis). I get multiple channels for all of the networks (except FOX), PBS, and ION. The extra channels are excluded from the limited basic (~$13) or basic (~$45) Brighthouse cable packages (only in digital package). A new favorite from PBS is CREATE, which is mainly DIY programming.
I am canceling my cable tv package. I think I will use the extra $$ for a netflix subscription.

Last night television changed over to digital and I have an old TV with rabbit ears. Some of the channels we had before are not available, but I am hoping that is temporary. We are receiving some new channels and all except one or two, have really good picture quality. Those couple have digital break-up, like when a DVD is bad. I am hoping that is temporary also, or just requires an antenna adjustment. The Tivax converter box has lived up to its reputation. My grandson hooked it up for me and said he found it rather difficult, but that may be because he has a dozen things hooked up to the T.V. (Teens!) The box came and there was no damage. I actually bought two, one for myself and one for my adult son. The set up was easy to follow. The only "trouble" is I have to use my TV remote to really get the volume on the shows increased. Once I set the volume with the TV remote, the converter remote volume button worked "better". This unit is in a basement, using rabbit ears antennae, and it holds the signal pretty well, most of the time. I would recommend this unit to anyone that wants an "ease of use" box. The directions were easy to follow for installation. My son has had the same comments. He is in a basement apartment, and the signals are sometimes weak just like my basement, but overall we are happy with the purchase.Customer Review: Tivax DTV Converter Box

I'm overall very pleased with the product. I do highly recommend with one strong caveat: the "manual" (if it can be called that) is the most worthless waste of paper I have ever seen. It is totally undecipherable. Whomever they hired to do the English translation should really understand English before any future attempts at translations. That aside, it is fairly straightforward to install and get working.
One other point: I've noticed that several people will report a wide range of reception issues. It looks like this may not be an issue with the DTV box itself, but rather with how the stations are broadcasting DTV. The FCC is currently investigating the problems with DTV reception in the Chicago area. Just FYI.
