Customer Review: What an excellent device!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have an "old" TV that doesn't have a built-in tuner, and I don't have cable, so this little box has come in very handy since the switch to digital television. Now I get almost 80 channels (using probably the cheapest "rabbit ears" out there). How cool is that? Plus, picture quality is much better than it used to be without the converter. By the way, before buying this product, I had done some research, and it had the best specs at the moment, not to mention that the price was unbelievably low ($10 with a coupon and free shipping), so I just couldn't miss such an opportunity. The package arrived fast, and it was easy to hook up the box to the TV. I've had it for about three months now, and it still works perfectly. It has a bunch of features that I find very helpful (since my TV doesn't have them). It shows the strength of the antenna signal, gives you an option to change the aspect ratio, and has a program guide (as well as a previous channel button, which is much appreciated by some people). To make a long story short, this converter is a great piece of electronics. I absolutely recommend it.

Customer Review: Slight advantage over the RCA converter
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been using the RCA converter since February, 2009. I have been using the Tivax converter for only about 4 months. The TV's in my household are powered on for 20 hours per day. The Tivax has a slight advantage over the RCA box. The clincher: Tivax has a slight advantage over the RCA box in that the signal button is placed right on the face of the remote. Whereas, the RCA remote requires navigating through several steps and sub-menus before getting to the signal strength meter. This makes a world of difference because you can confirm the signal strength of the program that you are watching. At the beginning of the TV program, you want to know ahead of time whether you can rely on sitting through the entire show without having the picture fall-out at critical points in the show. I like both the RCA and the Tivax. But if I had to choose only one converter box, I would choose the Tivax.

BTW: I purchased the Tivax item throught Amazon.com and I was completely satisfied with the efficient manner that the purchase was handled and delivered, i.e. Very Fast delivery!

Customer Review: Great Deal
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this using my $40.00 off government rebate card and let me tell you its is well worth the $9.99 I paid for it. Unfortunatley I was caught off guard by the fact that I would still need a UHF antenna to recieve the DTV signal but after a quick trip to my local BestBuy to purchase an RCA ANT200 VHF/UHF/FM Amplified Indoor Antenna for $15.00 I was in business. I was able to pick up 30+ channels many of which are in HD. The Tivax converter also allows the user to change the aspect Ratios, check signal strenght and many other neat features.

**I must admit that I live less than 3 miles from the Empire State Building which I believe is the main broadcast antenna in my area so I am able to recieve most signals at MAX strenght, so for those of you in a rural area the box may not pick up as many channels as mine does. But regardless thats is an antenna issue and has very little to do with the DTV converter.**

I highly recommend this product.

Customer Review: Easy to set up and works well
Summary: 5 Stars

I read a lot of user reviews on Amazon on many of the different converter options and thought I'd try the Tivax STB-T8. It seemed to have generally the most positive reviews, though there were people who didn't like it.

I was a little concerned because my TV is in the basement and I'm really not very close to any TV-station antennas. Also, I don't have a roof-mounted antenna, just a Terk antenna that is probably slightly better than rabbit ears, but nothing great.

So, I wasn't really expecting the Tivax to work that well. But, ten minutes after I took it out of the box, I had it set up and it had auto-scanned for all stations. It found between 25 and 30 stations, all of which look very good.

The manual is not great, but it gets the point across. The on-screen guide seems acceptable. The power cord is exceptionally short.

All in all, I'm very pleased with the Tivax converter. It was easy to set up and seems semi-intuitive in its operation.

Customer Review: Excellant product
Summary: 5 Stars

I didn't need this product, but I purchased it to see if it was as good as most of the reviews I've read. (I have cable and I'm completely happy with it) Believe it or not, when I turned it on and told it to scan for channels, it found 29 channels!!!! I have to be honest and say that some of the channels are the same, but the image is remarkably clear. I can't say anything negative about this converter. It's easy to use, the instructions are clear and easy to read, it does everything for you. All you have to do is start watching digital tv.

I was having a hard time believing that the picture could be as clear as I've read but I believe it now. Some of the channels are actually clearer and cleaner than the ones on my cable!!!! That's no lie!!!!

This converter is well worth the money. I'm so happy with it I'm considering dropping my cable tv and just having internet service only. Once you see the picture, you'll probably do the same.
