Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Tivax STB-T8 Digital to Analog TV Converter BoxCustomer Review: Excellent TV converter box Summary: 5 Stars
I needed a converter box to use at our camper and chose the Tivax based on the good reviews it received. Overall I am completely happy with this product. I had borrowed a RCA DT800 box from a friend while waiting for my rebate cards, and the Tivax is hands down much better. The number of channels that it found was impressive. The picture quality is also excellent. I wish the remote was universal, but most are not. After you setup the box for the first time and adjust your TV volume, you don't really need the TV remote anymore anyway so it isn't a big deal. The buttons aren't huge, but certainly big enough not to be a problem. It has dedicated buttons to view signal strength and to change the aspect ratio. It is extremely nice NOT to have these buried inside menus because I find myself using them a lot. The info button shows you what program is on plus some other details (signal strength, resolution, time, etc.) and the guide button shows you the channels program schedule for the day including a description for what is on the show. Maybe this is standard on all boxes, but very handy and easy to navigate. The unit is small and comes with a coax and RCA cables so you can hook it up to your either the coax input or video input on your TV.
I would highly recommend this product if you need a converter box.
Customer Review: Excellent Product. One of the Best Converter Boxes. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the Tivax because the Zenith DTT901 was unavailable at the time and I'm glad I did. I have 3 of the Zenith boxes and they work great. They are very sensitive to weak signals, are well made, have a great picture, and easy to use. But the Tivax rivals the Zenith in every way and may actually exceed it. One thing I like about the Tivax is the Signal Meter. It is far better than the Zenith and may be the best among all the digital boxes. I made a list of all the TV stations I receive on the Tivax along with the signal strength. The Tivax has a large bar graph but also shows a number in percent, 100% being perfect. I was amazed how many stations were 90% to 100%, about 30 in all. The Zenith also has a bar graph, but it is smaller and only says Good or Bad for the signal strength. The Signal Meter button is located on the Remote Control on both units. Speaking of the Remote, the Tivax is by far the best. It is large and easy to use. The Zenith is not bad, but no where near as easy to use. Overall, I would say the Tivax is an excellent unit. It is slightly larger than the Zenith, but if you have the room, I would probably choose it over the Zenith, although I am still very pleased with the Zenith. Either way, you can't go wrong.
Customer Review: TIVAX STB-T8 DIGITAL CONVERTER BOX---EXCELLENT Summary: 5 Stars
Greetings, READER- I chose this digital converter box (Tivex STB-T8) because it got a top rating in Consumer Reports... I am not disappointed... Has great picture quality... Looks like it is well made, too--has a metal case, not plastic like most of the other brands... Very compact, too... By the way, about a month ago, I helped a friend set up HIS converter box (Zenith brand) and he did not have an antenna available that day, so we just improvised and inserted a twist tie (from a bag of bread) into the center hole of the co-axial connection and, voila, picked up all of the available channels strong and clear (who'da thought!)... So, when I got MY Tivex box, I tried my rabbit ears antenna, then compared the reception using a straightened-out paper clip (my "invention"!) and, guess what?, the paper clip pulled in more channels... I decided to just go with the clip... Anyway, if you need a recommedation for the Tivex, you have one from ME... Amazon, as usual, had the best price AND, got my box out to me in just a few days even with the free super-saver shipping (LOVE AMAZON!!... HIGH-FIVE of a RECOMMENDATION!!). What more can I add?... Very satisfied customer... THANK YOU for your time... D.S.
Customer Review: Best investment alternative to cable Summary: 5 Stars
I'm an armchair shopper who extensively uses the internet as a valuable tool for getting what I think is the best value for my hard earned money. After several weeks of searching, we decided that the Tivax STB-T8 was the unit we wanted. Much to our surprise, this unit is not available at any local retail merchant. So, we ordered online, and our unit arrived almost a whole week of the given target date for delivery.
The setup was easy and flawless ... a child could do this ... once the unit was attached to the TV set and antenna, upon first powering up it began its search for available TV transmission signals. Minutes later we were watching TV for basically nothing with the same clarity as we had before on cable, but now without the $60 per month charge for watching local channels which we are now watching for free.
I would personally recommend this unit to anyone considering its purchase. It may cost a few dollars more, but it's worth it, and you won't be disappointed with this Tivax unit. And, we were able to use our $40 rebate coupon (card) for this purchase, another plus.
Customer Review: Stop researching converter boxes! See Conan, Kimmel, and Letterman in crystal clear glorious color! Summary: 5 Stars
Up and running in less than 5 minutes. Connected it, plugged it in, the menu popped up on my tv, and I pressed "OK" to scan channels, end of story. Conan, Letterman, and Kimmel, (NBC, CBS, and ABC) in crystal clear glorious color, plus 4 PBS channels and a bunch of local Chicago stations. Quite honestly I didn't bother reading the instructions, I looked at the diagram breifly to connect the box to the tv correctly and that was it. My antenna is an old bottom of the line $10. model with both rabbit ears completely broken off at the base, and it works perfectly- I may have to move it an inch or two occasionally, but given that it is literally a remnant of an antenna, a small piece of plastic with two little metal bolts where the rabbit ears once were, I would say no need to buy a special antenna. Prior to DTV my tv reception on most channels was horrible. The Tivax box is well designed, constructed of metal. Amazon free shipping, no tax, final cost with coupon $10. Very minor drawback is the somewhat short AC cord. Coverter boxes are becoming difficult to find in stock, buy this one while you can!
