I purchased this phone to use as a wall phone for my mother. She LOVES it!
Some phones seem to have adjustments that just don't quite do it. We are very pleased with the adjustment levels (noise levels, screen darkness - lightness, etc.) available on this phone.
The big buttons are easy for my mother to see and maneuver.
I installed the phone at eye level. She has no difficulties reading the Caller ID lighted display. The display is large and can be adjusted lighter or darker. Also, the Caller ID portion is plugged into an electrical outlet, so there are no expensive batteries to bother with.
One reviewer mentioned difficulty with the handset sitting firmly in the base. We have not encountered that problem.
There are three adjustments for the ringer volume, low, high, and off. Low is loud enough for my mother, but high isn't an uncomfortable loud.
The handset having an adjustable volume level is wonderful as well. My mother can easily adjust the volume to hear the callers that tend to whisper, and she can turn down the ones that yell. ;)
This phone has great features that anyone can appreciate. It looks good and is easy to use... but it is a MUST HAVE for an elderly person.

I purchased this phone last year and I continue to be pleased with it. It does require an outlet, but it wasn't a problem for where we planned on placing it. The only other complaint I have is that it's easy to end up accidentally not hanging it up all the way.
The phone that this replaced did not have a backlit caller ID and only stored the most recent time a number called if several calls were made, so having a better caller ID display that records every phone call was a nice improvement. You are not able to store many numbers for quick calling but we never use them anyway; usually I just keep the people we talk to most stored in caller ID and use the dial button to phone them from there.
My grandmother also purchased this phone and really loves it -- she had a hard time reading her caller ID display so never used the feature she was paying to have. Now it's easy to read and easy to use for her.

this phone was purchased to replace a defective phone that had essentially the same functions. the display panel died so i had to get a new one. no display, no caller ID. the large buttons are great and the large font display characters are as well. the best part about this phone is that it does not require batteries to use the caller ID. most caller ID phones require batteries. i'm not sure whose bright idea that was, but it is not a desired feature in a phone. speaking of desired features, the speakerphone is nice as well. again, many speakerphones seem to be accompanied by a digital answering machine that is undesirable. this phone is pleasantly missing the answering machine. the speakerphone does not seem to be full duplex, but it is adequate for my purposes. that said, this is a great phone and i highly recommend it if you like its features.Customer Review: Great Phone!

I got to agree with the other reviewers. This is one of the best phones I ever had for my kitchen-the extra large LIGHTED caller id feature was the selling point for me. It does require you to plug it in, but you don't have to worry about batteries leaking or running out. The speaker part has adjustable volume, and the caller id itself has contrast adjustments, it lists how long you have been on the phone while you are on that call, and one of the best parts is, if you get multiple calls from the same phone number, it will list each call and time INDIVIDUALLY, not overlap them. Thinking about putting one in the bedroom so when someone calls at night you can see who it is without turning on the light. The only drawback is the phone doesn't sit in the cradle snuggly, so you will have to be a little more careful when you hang up. GREAT PHONE!Customer Review: Very Good for the Dollar.

All functions as described in the product description and the user's booklet work and do so well. Our family mounted the unit on the kitchen wall. This forced us to exercise care when returning the handset to its cradle; we've had no "off-hook" problems. This model's memory holds ten often-called numbers and three emergency numbers. These numbers loaded easily, including the long international ones. However, there is a limited memory slot to describe each one so some abbreviation is necessary. The numbers and dial buttons are big and require less squinting for the sight challenged. Even more relief in this category is provided by the caller-ID screen which is well lit and uses large alpha-numerics. The sound is clear and has several levels of volume.
