I own the QX3+ it is a model up and is well worth the other [money]. It has much more software things and can go to better graphics. As for the QX3 I have one for my classroom and the kids love it. I find them begging me to let them use it every day.
My kids love the QX3+ at home. I kinda find my self playing on both of them ALL the time. Go ahead spend the money it will be fun for both you and your kids.

For the price of a gameboy game, you can get a great little digital microscope. I have used mine for a while with no problems. I have imaged everything from slides to small mineral specimens. Not the greatest optics, but for [$$$], it is a steal. I have bought one for my daughter's Science teacher last year, and will buy one soon for her new teacher. Great low cost aid for school.Tom

The freeware Microscope 1 (versiontracker.com) works wonderfullly with the QX3 in OSX10.2 (minimum). Image quality superior to macam, individual lights controls, top shutter button works and make incredible Quicktime time-lapse movies, all from an elegant (and not toy-looking) GUI more suitable for the amazing QX3.Customer Review: wow i am impressed

best 50$ spent on my kids it really works great. i use my halogen lamp to boost up the light it works for certain applications .no problems installing software. we run our computer through our 50" pioneer plasma. its a great family activity hunting for things in the yard- my two 5 year olds love it so do i
