Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of iGo Stowaway Ultra-Slim Bluetooth Keyboard for PDAs and Handhelds

Customer Review: Excellent keyboard!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an excellent keyboard! I have tried various portable keyboards with this PDA and other PDA's before it. This keyboard works very effectively, and without any hastles. It features full-size keys, and feels like a laptop keyboard. It has short-cut keys appropriate to the PDA, and conventional key combinations (such as control-C to copy) work as well. It has a rugged, durable metal case. It folds away with no keys touching, which has proved problematic on other keyboards. The only drawback (which I learned from other reviews) is that there is no off button, which means that the battery may continue to drain even when not in use. Easy solution: just remove the batteries after use if you plan to not use the keyboard for a day or two. To me, this is a small price to pay for a rugged, durable keyboard that you can count on! Also, initial set-up is fast and easy. I highly recommend this product. It makes your PDA into a very portable and convenient PC.

Customer Review: Works for Palm OS
Summary: 5 Stars

This product is now a universal product--not just compatible with Pocket PCs. I have a Palm Zire 72 and this keyboard works great with it! If you have a Palm, just go to the Think Outside webpage and download the drivers for Palm, then do a HotSync. Pretty simple. Anyway, on to the review:

Good:
1. Comes with nice, padded case
2. Folds up easily into a small, mobile size
3. Makes entering data or surfing the web MUCH, MUCH faster
4. Bluetooth allows great range (well over 100 ft. from what I can tell, but this doesn't really matter since you can't read your PDA screen from very far anyway)
5. Detachable stand

Bad:
1. A little pricey for a keyboard, but WELL worth it
2. Installation is no plug-n-play (especially for Palm users)

I would highly recommend this! My only regret is that I didn't purchase this weeks ago when I didn't think it was compatible with Palms.

Customer Review: Works great with Nokia 770
Summary: 5 Stars

This product works great with the Nokia 770 (Internet Tablet). It has a great feel when typing --quiet, but with a tactile and noiseless click -- folds up to an easy-to-carry size, and looks pretty stylish, too. I also like that the fold-out PDA support stand can be removed if you find a better arrangement for supporting your portable device.
Downside (very slight): If you do a lot of number crunching, get the keyboard with the dedicated number keys; otherwise, entering numbers is a little cumbersome, requiring a press of the left Fn key before each number entry. Also, the latch required to fold the keyboard back up is a little hard to operate and feels like it might be the most vulnerable to breakage. It would be improved by a pushbutton type release instead of the slide catch. Overall though, I get the feeling that if you treat this keyboard with the same respect with which it was designed, it'll give you lots of great service.

Customer Review: no title
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the very first thing I am typing on my new slim bluetooth keyboard, which I have to say is pretty sweet. First impressions: This thing is really freaking small considering the keys are full size. This is shockingly comfortable to type on. Useability 9/10 -- lacks function keys (f4 f12 etc)... alt+f4 is terribly inconvenient. The numbers are hard to type too, but that's okay cause leaving off that top row makes the thing so much smaller... come to think of it there's a numlock button so that makes it better. Another thing I noticed is that it comes with a sticker over some of the keys that when you rip it off it leaves awful sticky residue that takes forever to remove unless you have goo-gone. Installation was very easy just read the instructions. I am using this on windows XP and the only tough thing was to figure out that you had to press leftFN+rightFN+control to activate this thing. Final thoughts: over all very awesome.

Customer Review: Great keyboard, irreplaceable companion
Summary: 5 Stars

Once you get a keyboard for your pda / smart phone, you won't go back. This keyboard communicates via bluetooth and does a great job at turning your small device into a productive tool you won't want to be without. I use this keyboard with my Palm TX and it does a fabulous job during meetings - it's small (smaller than a notebook), VERY portable and reliable. the entire keyboard as well as my Palm PDA fits into the pant pocket of my cargo pants / shorts. You really can't get much more portable than that.

To use you invoke a 3-button key combination to help it initiate contact with your device. Once connected, you'll be off and running. My Palm TX will only stay on at 1-3 minute intervals so the only thing I don't like about this combination is that I have to keep hitting a key once in a while so my Palm doesn't shut off. This of course is a design flaw of the TX and not reflective of the keyboard.
