Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of iGo Stowaway Ultra-Slim Bluetooth Keyboard for PDAs and HandheldsCustomer Review: Great keyboard for N95 Summary: 5 Stars
I switched from an treo 600 to a N95. Together with a Mitsubishi PK20 projector, the N95 makes a great presentation gear, and will do most computer chores in a short trip (you can use the projector to get a full size screen). But it lacks a keyboard, which makes input tedious. I had another fullsize bluetooth keyboard and it worked well with the N95, but the size made it too big to carry along. The iGo keyboard is perfect. It paired well with the N95 with no additional software (I did not use the included driver CD - nothing to install). Going from typing web addresses and SMS on the numeric keypad, the keyboard is perfect. I haven't done any serious word processing on it, but I think I will leave my computer behind in my next trip. The keyboard lacks the upper 4th row, so you need to use the function keys to access numbers, but that does not bother me. I did not have problems removing the stickers that come glued to the keyboard. If I hadn't been two weeks using the phone without it, I might find something to complain, but right now it made inputing data so much easier that I have to give it 5 stars.
Customer Review: Wireless Keyboard for Windows Mobile 6.x Smartphone Summary: 5 Stars
Stowaway keyboard works with my Windows Mobile Smartphone 6.1. Other reviews did not mention this version of Windows Mobil Operating System so I am making this review. If you are interested in Windows Mobile Smartphone 6.1, 6.5, etc. then please mark this review as being useful so that it gets ranked in a way that other with newer phones can also see that it will work.
I got it connect with my HTC Touch Pro 2 in a manner of a few minutes. I believe that this should work with any Windows Mobile Phone know matter what your brand/model of Windows Mobile Smart Phone.
So far the keyboard works within an application. Some phone buttons are not mapped to a key sequence equivalent. For instance I can type in a txt message, but I have to press the SEND on the phone screen to have the text sent.
The keyboard comes with a nice case, and is very compact when folded. Take time when you get it and learn the trick to opening it up when folded and how to correctly refold...
It is much nicer than the phone's keyboard.
Customer Review: Great keyboard for UMPC Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this to use with a Samsung Q1 and it works great - connects quickly and no lag in keystrokes at all. It's very small so I can pack the Q1 and the Stowaway almost anywhere. I had no problem with the initial pairing, the instuctions were in the box. It takes a little while to get used to not having the top row of number keys but if you place your fingers on the home keys by feel and not by sight then it's no problem. I kept wanting to start typing one row below normal because I felt like I should start on the third row instead of the second row. The key spacing feels normal and accessing the numbers with the function key becomes natural after a while. The bottom line is that it is small. It takes up very little space when in use and very, very little space when folded and put away. I don't know about other devices, I have not tried it with my Ipaq or laptops (My Q1 replaced the Ipaq and I don't see why anyone would need it with a laptop). If you have a Q1 or other UMPC then I think this is the perfect keyboard for it.
Customer Review: best thing since sliced bread, and about as big! Summary: 5 Stars
this is an excellent product. on the upside
- getting started, ok: a little work to load drivers, though even i could do it, and im technologically challenged at best
- connecting, terrifically easy: once you've downloaded and installed the right bits, hit a couple of buttons on the keyboard, the same on the blackberry and you're off to the races
- typing, magic: excellent, solid keyboard
- stylish: really hot design. small, thin, brushed aluminium finish, scratches barely show, eye catching. a real conversation starter!
- long battery life: many many many hours
on the downside;
- no mouse-like function
- bunch of symbol keys require you to hold down the function buttons, which is how they kept it so small
- when youre hitting the keys at the edge of the keyboard (a, l for example), it sometimes wobbles a bit, if its on a flat surface. no such problems if its on your lap
on balance, a brilliant buy! i am delighted with my slinky new keyboard
Customer Review: Great little keyboard Summary: 5 Stars
I got this keyboard to attach to my Nokia N800. At first, I had a little problem with the sequence to get the devices to pair. Once I got over that little hurdle, everything was very smooth and natural. The keyboard mapping is a little weird, but you quickly get used to the fact that all the numbers and special characters are accessed through function keys. The folding mechanism seems a little delicate, and could be smoother. If handled gently, without forcing things, I can see it lasting quite well.
My one complaint is that they put a sticker on the thing that I have not been able to fully remove. There are still little pieces on the keys and a portion of it on the outside of the keyboard. I would have thought that they would use something with less aggressive glue.
I would fully recommend this keyboard to anybody who needs a Bluetooth keyboard. It works well, folds small enough to go in a jacket pocket, and the price was very low.
