Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Thermaltake W0070RUC TR2 Series 430W Power Supply with 2 Fans

Customer Review: Great Inexpensive Power Supply
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a really nice power supply for the money. I have bought several of them and they work very quietly and efficiently.

If you are unfamiliar with how to install a new power supply you might want to follow these 10 simple steps:

1 Unscrew the four screws holding the old power supply to the case.
2 Pull the old power supply out and rest it on a corner of the case.
3 Put the new power supply into the case.
4 Follow the first cord of the old power supply noting the color of the wires and where they are located. You might want to write this down if your memory isn't the greatest.
5. Find a cord on the new power suppy that matches and plug it in to the empty socket. Push down hard to make sure the cord is well seated.
6. Keep doing this untill all cords on the old power supply are unplugged and replaced with cords from the new power supply.
7. Screw in the four screws to secure the power supply to the case.
8. Plug in the power supply
9. Turn on the switch to the power supply.
10. Turn on the computer.

The whole process takes less than 10 minutes and with the low cost of the Thermaltake power supply it makes it cost-and-effort effective to upgrade your old power supply.

Customer Review: One of the Best Economical PSU's
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the perfect replacement PSU for an OEM built PC. Pre-built machines usually ship with minimum 300 watt power supplies. So before any upgrades can be done, a new power supply is mandatory.

The dual fans are good for extra cooling and the mesh wraps on the cabling is a nice touch. This PSU features the 20+4 pin power connector that will work on both 20 pin and 24 pin mobos. At +12V its rated 18amps and at +5V its rated 30 amps.

The one thing that I found to be a drawback, is the fact that it has 9 peripheral 4 pin connectors. A computer with a 430 watt PSU doesn't need that many and all the extra cables take up more space inside the case and probably hinder the ventilation a bit. So remember to get lots of extra cable wraps and plan on spending about 15 minutes finding the best way to organize all the extra cabling so its as neat as possible.

It has 2 SATA connectors. But these are close together and will only reach two internal hard drives that are mounted one on top of the other. If you have 1 internal hard drive and one SATA DVD drive, you will need a SATA to 4 pin adapter cable as the 2 SATA connectors will not reach. (There like 2 inches apart.)

Customer Review: A real quality product
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't usually do reviews, especially on something as unglamorous as a power supply, but I have to say I was so impressed with the quality of the unit when it arrived - I couldn't have been more pleased. After my old power supply completely melted down and stunk up my house, when I came home - I could only hope it didn't take my motherboard and peripherals with it.
I scoured reviews and message boards for pro and cons and found out something in the process - some power supplies are known to have voltage problems that manifested itself in unpredictable behavior like the mouse or entire pc just freezing up! I had been experiencing this with my old power supply but never knew it was the culprit until it thankfully kicked the bucket. So when I saw that this unit did not have such voltage problems, I went for it. It also had all of the extra plugs for peripherals I needed and then some. And seeing how nice they bound and packaged the wires told me that this company goes the extra mile. I've had it up and running for over a month now without a single freezeup and am very happy to have my pc back!

Customer Review: Clean, quiet, cool!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had this product installed in my computer for the past few weeks. I have been quite pleased with the performance and reliability. I had absolutely no issues with installation. I really like the cabling, it is wrapped in a black mesh to aid in air flow, and it did wonders for making my setup look more modern and less confused on the inside.

When I first got this unit installed, I thought it was defective, because I could barely feel any air coming off of the back. My old PSU was constantly blowing hot air at a high rate. This unit runs cool and quiet under all loads. I felt the unit after 2 hours of heavy gaming, and it felt cool to the touch. I have tried to get this unit hot, or to push it hard enough to kick the fans on high, without any luck. This is the best PSU I have ever owned. As long as this model lasts me for a while, I will probably stay loyal to thermaltake. This is my first one, and so far it has been stellar.

Customer Review: Affordable, dependable, and QUIET
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this as a replacement for my computer's original power supply... the fan on it began rattling (which made my computer even louder than it was originally) and I also needed extra cords to hook up to my new video card.

Upon installing the power supply, I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only was my rattling problem solved... the computer runs so quietly now that it's almost inaudible! I assumed the CPU fan was producing much of the noise, but turns out the CPU fan runs almost silently under normal conditions. With my new power supply, the computer makes almost no sound at all.

There are plenty of connections, which is great... except that the number of cords running out of the power supply has filled up my case.

All in all I'm very happy with this unit... there are connections for all the components and it runs almost silently.
