Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Thermaltake W0070RUC TR2 Series 430W Power Supply with 2 Fans

Customer Review: Top Quality at Modest Price +++
Summary: 5 Stars

I am impressed by the quality of this "Thermaltake" power supply. It is quiet and has two fans to add to PC net fan cooling -- so if you are updating in general you will have more cooling to support your update -- and it is good to have more cooling in any case. This unit is of great production quality -- even the wiring is protected by woven sheath binding. The case is sturdy and of a standard shape to easily fit-in with many PC comps. Compared to my previous power unit this one is seen to be much better. At 430 watts -- ideal for an update of a modest PC ccmp -- if not for a cutting-edge top-power PC comp.

It is no trouble installing it. Turn-off the PC using the 0/1 off-on. Unplug the old power unit from the PC and the power strip. Open the PC case and loosen the old power unit -- letting it hang out the side. Then connect the new unit wiring bundle cable-and-plugs one-by-one to the half dozen or so plug input spots -- just switching equivalent cable-and-plugs -- matching the plugs one-by-one by pins, shapes and wire colors -- making sure to not tangle wire bundle cables -- especially the old and new ones. When done with this switching process, the old unit is all the way loose and the new unit is installed via its four screws to the PC where the old one has been -- then put on the PC case cover and plug in the new power unit to the PC and power strip. Turn-on the PC using the 0/1 off-on. Now the PC should be ready to turn-on normally. Details to help anyone install this fine "Thermaltake" 430 watt power supply +++

Customer Review: Amazing! $35 powers OC dual-cores and OC 9800GT 1GB!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am thoroughly impressed!

I used a Thermaltake 430 to convert an HP Pavilion Desktop that I thought was going to be a home office machine, but wound up with it's dual-cores massively overclocked, an overclocked BFG GeForce 9800GT(1GB DDR3) graphics card out to a Matrox TripleHeadToGo(digital) to three Acer Ferrari 22" monitors with 7.1 surround! It is now my brother's ultimate FSX flight simulator that awes all who witness it. It will make me airsick & pull quite decent frame rates @ 3840x1024, not to mention shake your knees on a slab floor when you hit the afterburner! Although the Matrox and Ferrari's weren't cheap (the Ferrari's were for looks... you can get well priced 2ms 22" LCD's without the designer label), you can achieve great results without SLI or liquid cooling! Start by going with Thermaltake power supplies!

The Thermaltake 430 handled the over-clocking and upgrades without hesitation, as well as maxing out the speed on the HP's fans, the graphics card's fan, and adding extra fans to keep the machine as cool as possible. Thermaltake's quality and attention to detail are immediately obvious, and extremely helpful. I LOVE the sleeved cabling - no plastic "sleeves" here, this is braided... nylon I'd guess. They also included adapters so it will work with most machines' motherboard power connection, as well as PCIe & plenty of extra lines for whatever you need to power. It makes for a very easy, clean, professional install - for only $35!

Customer Review: Great Product
Summary: 5 Stars

I read all other reviews before purchasing this product, looked for other products that were of equal value and equal quality. Every other product I looked at for this price was commented on as being noisy and we cant have that! I upgraded my power supply because my new Graphics card required an upgrade. My biggest fear was that i would not have all the connectors that i needed and after doing some research to be familiarized with the lingo i was very happy indeed to find that this was a perfect fit for me. It is not noisy and has many molex connections (9). If you have SATA Hard Disk Drive and SATA Optical drive you will need some molex to SATA connectors. This was the case for me but my computer already had them so i just used the ones that were already being used by the old power supply. While it does have 2 SATA connectors you cannot use them with both a HDD and Optical Drive cause they are run from the same wire (piggy backed) and are only 3 inches apart (optimal for 2 Optical Drives).
My last computer had a really loud Power supply and my current computer came with a silent one so i have seen the best and worst...and when you know what silent is you dont want to go back to a loud Powere supply.
BTW- I called Thermaltake to get some specs and talk to them about this product before I bought it and they were very helpful (tech support), answered all my questions and went beyond what it took to make me feel comfortable about buying this product.

Customer Review: Best power supply I've ever bought
Summary: 5 Stars

Eighteen Month Update:

This power supply has been running nearly non-stop for eighteen months with no failures whatsoever. Fantastic!

One very minor issue -- I ran out of SATA style power connectors. The power supply has an abundance of Molex connectors but is short on the newer SATA style ones. So, I had to buy a couple of adapters for about five bucks.

Look at this if you don't know what I'm talking about: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003AVN6D4

You should know that I'm not a big computer expert but I have been building (and repairing) my own PCs since the mid 80s - nothing fancy, just workhorse PCs.

This is a very good a power supply, best I can tell. I don't know about the stuff going on inside but the cords are a much higher quality than I'm used to seeing, both in how sturdy they are and also in the number of connections they give you.

I keep my computers running 24-7 and the power supply has worked flawlessly for a couple months now. So, I'm giving it top a rating. In my experience, power supplies fail right-away, if they are bad, or they run for several years. So, I predict that this one will give me no problems.

The only down-side is the poorly written documentation which doesn't matter much to me but might be a bother to people who have never installed a power supply before.

Customer Review: Thermaltake has been around for many, many years
Summary: 5 Stars

There are gobs and gobs of fly-by-night, cheap, Chinese made hardware out there but Thermaltake isn't one of them. I've used their products for almost as long as I've been building computers. I've never used one of their power supplies but seeing as how it comes with a 5 year warranty it should let you know you're buying something that's meant to last. Power supplies are like breaks on a car: they take a lot of abuse but with some simple maintenance (blast it with a can of compressed air every few months to get the dust out) they will last a long, long time. Sure, there's bound to be a bad one in a batch but for the most part the Thermaltake brand hasn't failed me yet. By the way, the SATA power connectors did not break or fall apart like others have reported here. It's hard to judge other people's experience because it's possible they forced it or applied pressure the wrong way which could likely break the connector. SATA power connectors are very thin and not like the old-school Molex connectors. And as I stated above, you should blast the PSU with compressed air to keep the dust our or expect it to fail sooner than later. You change your oil every 3000 or so miles on your car, right? In terms of bang for the buck, I found this PSU to have everything I needed for the basic system I was fixing. Installed easily, managed cabling is a nice plus, is much quieter than the PSU it replaced. I would buy this product again.
