Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Thermaltake Mobile Fan II External USB Cooling Fan - UsCustomer Review: Great Fan Summary: 5 Stars
If you have either a xbox 360, PS3 or any equipment that gets too hot, this item is a must have. I bought this last night, and used it for my xbox 360. I could feel the difference. The system was cooler and more air is circulated.
I turned the setting to its highest and you can barely hear it. I love it. Hope it keeps the red ring of death away. When you power off the xbox, the fan continues running, so you need to disconnect the USB.
No on and off switch, but who cares, for $20 shipped, its a perfect item for over heating electronics.
Customer Review: Good Design, Solid Product Summary: 5 Stars
This does about what you'd expect it to: plug in via USB, adjust speed by turning the knob, etc.. It was even designed with a retractable USB cord, so you don't have excess cable lying about!
I bought two of these to help cool a machine in a poorly ventilated cabinet, and they work well enough.
The worst part about the fans is that the shipper I bought from (through Amazon) shipped in an envelope where the plastic of the container was cracked in pieces by the time the fans arrived.
Overall, I'd recommend this purchase.
Customer Review: Effective! Summary: 5 Stars
This fan does its job well and reliably. I bought it for my PS3, which is located in a small cubicle in my home entertainment center. Although my PS3 has never actually overheated, the inside air of the cubicle became extremely warm when the PS3 was in use for at least three hours because of a lack of ventilation. However, thanks to this fan, the inside of the cubicle never gets hot anymore.
If you have a PS3, the trick is to aim the fan away from the heat exhaust, allowing it to suck the hot air out and away from the system and propel it out.
Customer Review: Perfect for portable cooling. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought 2 of these amazing fans to replace my Nyko Intercooler TS because it wasn't working as well to cool down my xbox360. With these fans running at 12v each on max, it won't do any harm to the xbox360. I put 2 of these on the back of my xbox360 and the air gets sucked right out. Amazing air flow and there is an adjustable speed with a little dial. When 2 of these things are on full blast it can get really loud but the sound of gaming should drown it out. I would recommend these little fans for anyone with a xbox360 or PS3 or any laptop.
Customer Review: Just What I Was Looking For Summary: 5 Stars
My office desk is an old (pre-computer) banker's desk that I have modified with the help of a hole saw to make computer friendly. I am using one of the drawers for my external USB hard drives (1 TB and 500 GB LaCie drives) connected to a hub in the drawer. Those suckers can get hot and disk drives don't mix well with heat.
The Thermaltake Mobile Fan II is a perfect solution to keeping cool air flowing. It's quiet, but powerful and my drives have surface temps 15-30 degrees *cooler* than they did before I bought the fan.
