I was looking for a fan to cool my laptop and tried the Targus PA248U Notebook Chill Pad which couldn't keep the laptop cool and didn't look like it was very sturdy.
I returned the Targus and bought the Thermaltake and have been very happy with it. It is extremely quiet and is very efficient at cooling the laptop. The only restriction is that you need a surface for this fan, unlike the "under the laptop" cooling fans. Overall, a great product at a very reasonable price.

While deciding to add an external fan to my new xbox, I found this to be a quick an easy route to take. Yes, I could've bought a fan, added a usb cord, and a speed controller for a dollar or two cheaper; but it wouldn't have looked as cool or have been nearly as easy. Works perfectly, very low noise (not noticeable at all from across the room,) and hopefully is helping to keep my xbox a little cooler than normal. I do wonder why they didn't put an inline on/off switch on this assembly though...the lack of that kind of boggles my mind. I bought 2 of these to keep my electronics cool in my entertainment console: a PS3, wireless router, WD TV media player, cable modem, and an AT&T Microcell. Like others have said, it turns on/off when the PS3 does which is great. The WD TV does not turn off power to its usb ports when you turn it off so... the other fan remains on. I have it turned down though so I can't hear it from the couch.
I had considered an 110 VAC powered fan but I didn't want to mess with finding space on my power strip. This works great for my situation. I hope it will for you too.

I recently bought an enclosed entertainment stand and I bought this to use since there isn't a decent intercooler for my PS3. After mounting I might a slight adjustment to the speed and have been good ever since. The noise is there if you have the RPMs maxed, but I haven't had to do that. The air output is amazing and the PS3 hasn't had to boost its fans I install this. Should I ever need to increase air flow, it's only a knob turn away. I absolutely love that feature. I highly recommend this for anyone wanting to cool their PS3 reliably without a ton of extra noise.Customer Review: Does the job for XBOX 360!

I recently purchased 3 of these items for use on 2 Xbox 360 consoles. This external fan can be powered by Xbox USB and still work if you shutdown the console!! (As long as the main power supply is plugged in).
Since then none of the consoles crashed or faced any overheating issues.
Not to mention that this fan is surprisingly quiet!
Forget the intercooler and other relevant fan add-ins behind the console since they cause power supply problems and rings of doom.
I highly recommend to purchase this item, Thermaltalke is a guarantee!
