I purchased the Neat Organizer but was unable to use it. My older Mac was too old and my new mac book air does not take cds. I've been an apple customer for many years and one reason aside from the excellence of their products is their customer care and service.
Do not expect that from the Neat Company. The product may be good but their customer service is poor to none. They are not familiar with their own return options or process. The usual professional service I have come to expect from Apple is sorely absent at the Neat Company. My problem was just to return the item. I can't imagine what it would be like if I had a problem with the scanner. Very disappoonted.

The device itself is nice and small and very cool looking. But the quality of the scans is a very low 200 dpi. Which means it is great if you trying to scan receipts and b&w documents. But the quality of, let's say, a photo ad would be bad. This really limits what you can do with this scanner.
I own a Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 that is just plain awesome. I wasn't expecting that from the NeatScan for $150, but I was expecting high resolution scans - maybe just a lot slower. There are much better alternatives out there for a little more money. Check out the Fujitsu Scansnap S300.

I bought this to make my office life easier and it has done nothing except create more frustration for my staff. It does NOT turn written forms into Excel form, it gives you a jpg of the image. It does not easily convert to Word, you have to manually fix the conversion yourself which can take a while depending on what you are scanning. I am returning my unit today with disappointment and a great amount of frustration.Customer Review: Intelligent scanning and OCR simply doesn't work

I entered 100 receipts and it scanned 5 correctly. It's completely incompatible with Quickbooks. The stated features are grossely overstated. As far as I am concerned, I wasted $300 thinking it was actually doing what it says it does. The recognition is so unreliable it's essentially useless and all ought to be entered by hand instead. I thought this was a great little item. not cheap but nice. Now I find out they do not support (and apparently will not in the near future) Windows 7. It appears they are selling their registered users an upgrade to another of their products. Can you believe it?
