This scanner is awesome. I have scanned my tax receipts and had the total right away. As a teacher, I scanned students' work and put it up on the internet. I have scanned important document and put it on a flash drive. I have scanned every single business card I have ever had and tried to find more. This product is so awesome. It is not perfect and will not scan everything perfectly, so check all of the scanner work over. Nothing in this world is perfect. If you hate paper and receipt clutter, let neatreceipt help you out. Buy this Review: Great Buy!Summary: 5 Stars Neat Reciepts was a great purchase. It uses the MSDE Database to store the scans. You can archive the database for backup, etc. It exports to Quicken, Excel, and PDF. The BEST FEATURE is the OCR of the reciepts. It puts in most of the reciept summary data (date, total, tax, location, etc).
I use the scanner to scan other documents as well. The software should work with other scanners also (this is good, so when I need to replace the scanner, I can get a different scanner, if I want). MAC USERS: ONLY for PC, unless you use BOOTCAMP OR Parallel

Really, I think it should be more like TEN stars!
When I first saw the Scanalizer in a magazine aboard an airline flight, I thought, WOW, finally something to help me get organized. And it IS all of that and MORE! The software is VERY VERY GOOD, I have just begun scanalizing, and expect to unbury myself from this mountain of paper that was choking me. The price offered by Amazon is great, better than the local office supply store, and comparable or cheaper I think to the Warehouse club which now offers it as an online purchase only.

Im not going into great detail as others have clearly highlighted its Pros and Cons. Overall it works great for a portable scanner. I dont even use it for all the stellar organizational features it has. We simply use it as a scanner of documents on a desk we have very little space on - and it works great!
Only thing I wish for is that the storage space in the base that was meant for the USB cord was actually large enough to hold the cable folded up. We cant get it to fit well (at all actually). Its still a 5 star product though.

The Neat Receipts Professional has already cut hours from my expense reporting. The export to Microsoft XL, has also made the software helpful to my accounting department.
I like the compact size and robust strength for traveling. My laptop case goes through many extremes on airlines in addition to thousands of miles in and out of my company vehicle.
I would recommend this item yo anyone who relies on their own devises, while on the road or in an office; where the risk of losing receipts or documents is high.
