Customer Review: outstanding product - very happy with purchase

Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase. It let's me quickly get backups of all my receipts, produces summarized and detail reports for me (no more redundant data entry into Excel!), and has been completely stable on my laptop.
Pros:
- Excellent form factor (easy to squeeze into the laptop case)
- Fast scanning
- Good recognition-- usually recognizes dates and amounts
- Easy setup and easy plug-n-play type usage (never had any problems hot plugging)
- Flexible software with easy data-entry or correction of scans and excellent variety of reports generation options
- The NeatReceipts folks seem to be doing a good job of maintaining the software. I've had the product for a couple of months and although I've had no crashes or unexpected behavior, they've issued a couple of udpates for the software.
Cons:
- uses Microsoft SQLServer Desktop Edition, which may cause some extra work if you use other versions of SQLServer on the same machine
- user-interface could use some improvements, like disabling the scroll-wheel when a drop down has not been clicked-- it's too easy to accidentally change things (e.g., dates or categories) without even realizing you did; perhaps a "lock entry" type function could correct this behavior

NeatReceipts Professional Mobile Receipt and Document Scanner and Software Combination Version 3.0
I travel all the time for business and when I get home the last thing I want to do is my expenses. I purchased Neat Receipts software and the scanner so I could just do my expense report in the hotel at night when I had nothing else better to do. It turned out to be one of my best investments as I now use the scanner to digitizes all my paper documents and I no longer travel with a stack of notes that just weigh me down while traveling. After I started to turn in very accurate expense reports, the VP of Finance asked what I was using and now the company furnishes Neat Receipts to all of guys on the road regularly.
Even when I am home, I find the compactness of the scanner to be a great addition to my crowed desk, opening space by getting rid of my flatbed scanner and just using the Neat Receipts scanner. It does a great job on scanning photo's documents and of course all my written documents that I now store on a back up drive at home and the urgent one on my traveling laptop. I highly recommend this product and I am looking forward to using their new NeatWork 4.0 soon.

I do a lot of business traveling, and this product has really helped me to reduce that amount of paperwork I carry around. I'm in outside sales, and when I'm on business trips I work out of my truck. I keep the scanalizer connected to my laptop, and here's how I use it:
-As soon as I get a receipt, I scan it into my laptop and store the actual receipt into an organizer I have. At the end of the biz trip, I email a .pdf version of the expense report to the secretary. She loves the fact that she doesn't have to mess with receipts anymore, and that everything is neatly organized in digital format.
-When I visit customers, I like to collect whatever brochures and information on their business as I can; however, it gets to be a bit much carrying all of that paperwork around with me. Now I just scan the brochures into the scanalizer, and have separate tabs for each customer with all of the brochures scanned in. I throw the physical brochures away and eliminate all of my clutter.
These are the two main ways I currently use the device; ultimately, the main idea is that I'm able to go completely paperless, which gives me more opportunity to focus on the core part of my job: selling.

As a "road warrior", managing my travel expenses has always been a time-consuming chore. And the occasional lost receipt as well as non-billable expenses incurred while traveling (which are nevertheless tax-deductible)have probably cost me hundreds of dollars each year.
I wondered whether this device would really be more effective than a regular photocopier/scanner and the answer has been a resounding YES. The software is very intuitive and it is now a snap to process all my receipts and develop my monthly expense reports. The software is very well designed and allows you to split receipts, drag and drop from one expense report to another and indicate whether an expense is personal or billable (which means I am now capturing ALL my travel expenses.)
My only criticism is that there isn't a way to just manually enter expenses for tips. I work around that by creating a hand-written receipt for tips for each trip. Hopefully they'll address this in a future software update.
I am recommending this to all the other consultants in my company -- after all, if you save one potentailly billable hour of time, it has more than paid for itself!
Customer Review: A dream for organized people

I was leary about purchasing this product after reading mixed reviews and also because it wasn't an inexpensive purchase. I took a chance and I'm glad I did. It is easy to use and keeps my finances in order. I haven't yet tried to scan business cards or recipes (my next 2 projects), however, I'm very pleased with how my receipts are well organized and stored.
I did have a minor issue getting the system setup but a call to customer service fixed it all. They were available, friendly, and patient. I'm confident that if I had other problems (none so far), they would be available to help me.
The scanning was slow (10-15 seconds) initially but as the scanner "learned" based on your corrections, it became smarter. I rarely have to enter anything now.
I am very pleased with this product and am glad I purchased it. I recommend it for individuals who are organized or would like to be more organized.
