Customer Review: An actual Mac application, Not a PORT.

This little receipt scanner is a jewel, but the real jewel is the Software. The one thing that really angers me is when a company ports the interface of its windows product to its new Mac software. The result is usually an application that doesn't feel very Mac like and the Mac user is left with a product that seems half finished.
That said, this is NOT what neat has done for the NeatReceipts Mobile Scanner. The software is very mac like and the Interface is very sleek indeed. This is one company that seems has embraced the "physics" of the Mac OS which has its own rules and regulations.
I bought one of these for work, and I am purchasing one for Home.

I received an advance-release of this product at WWDC08 in June 2008, and I've been playing with it ever since. It is top notch in every regard. The hardware is small and only uses the USB port [no need to find an A/C plug!]. The software is even better, as it grabs data right from the scanned receipt; no need for retyping in most cases!
This is a high quality product, and feels like something Apple has made, as even the packaging is tidy and well organized.
I highly recommend this over the currently offered shareware solutions. The software is really top notch, and the scanner is portable enough to fit in a laptop bag easily.

The scanner is pretty fast for a small desktop device and produces good scans. The device is portable and connects via usb. The software OCR is pretty accurate. The thing that makes the day is the software. It does a good job of pulling off the fields from the scanned item and placing them into the right place in the built in data base entry. But the thing that really is good is how easy it is to manually update fields or over ride the OCR. Just drag the info into where you want it and edit it for correctness.
I am using the MAC version but I assume the PC version works just as well.
So it does everything I wanted.

This space-efficent scanner is simple to set up/connect and easy to use. The image quality of the scans is high; the ability to edit within the program is intuitive. The program seems limited with regards to (flexible) file storage. We are not using the program for saving business receipts so cannot comment on those capabilities, but the various options for adding information appear to cover most likely options. This small tool has the potential to save reams of paper and to reduce the headaches of managing expense accounts.Customer Review: Great product that makes my life easier!

This product is exactly what it promises. Worth every penny, I quickly and efficiently took care of all of my important receipts for tax time. Several categories including a Canadian tax category (perfect for me) and such an easy way to prepare everything. Since I travel, it's the perfect size to take everywhere. Great software for Mac, and the colour or black and white option is genius as well. Seriously, I'm still looking for something negative to say about this scanner, but haven't come across a problem yet.
