I have been in business now as a field rep for over 10 years. I have had to do excel based expenses, had to re-type notes and even take my charts and graphs and try and replicate them repeatedly in powerpoint, excel, word -- even a program called Notebook. In the past year I have used the mobile scanner from NEat Receipts for both the Mac and the PC and absolutely loved it. I travel, so on my flight home I can scan my receipts quickly into my computer -- I am done when I get home, and all that is left is to finalize my report.
I no longer have to debate between the visual webs and designs that I write in association with notes and whether or not the words I use adequately describe the writings. Instead, I can summarize and bring the visual in by scanning it.
In summary, I have taken the clunkiness of my printer and replaced it with this -- including using it as a fax machine! I can't say enough about this - the investment has paid in full multiple times in less than 12 months when you take into account my hourly wage and the time I am not having to spend organizing and scanning.
I highly recommend this -- both the hardware and the extremely easy to use software.

Why didn't I buy this sooner! That's all I can think every time I use this little wonder. Here is a fun piece of technology that actually lives up to it's promises. It is incredibly lightweight, has a sleek design, is easy to use, and works flawlessly!
I travel quite a bit, and always seem to accumulate a lot of paper along the way - client files, receipts, business cards etc. Even in today's digital age, I continually find myself lugging a briefcase full of papers, as well as needing a fax machine. This solves all of those problems. The OCR software is remarkable. Receipts can be scanned, and the software will automatically recognize the name of the company, the total and even the tax. The copies are easy to file and store, and the data can be exported to Quickbooks for tax purposes. The scanner itself takes up considerably less space in my luggage than all of the files I usually carry, and makes it easy for me to archive many documents even when I'm on the road. It really does work at the touch of a button. Neat and Mac make a great combo. Perfect for any mobile office!

I was very skeptical when I got this and bought it through Amazon so I could return it if it didn't work, but in fact it is pretty amazing. I travel a lot and I bring it everywhere, it's small, light, and (to me) incredibly fast. The software works surprisingly well. It can handle other languages pretty well so long as they are in Latin script (otherwise forget it), but even if the data extraction goes awry it's easy to type everything in. Really. I just LOVE this thing. When I got mine Amazon accidentally sent me the wrong model, but NeatWorks sent me a link for the software even before Amazon re-sent me the right product, so my experience with the company was also really good. I seriously tell loads of people about this thing and recommend it constantly. Oh AND--it's super easy to export everything into pdfs. Takes seconds, works great--so I can send things to people easily, and it even combines a bunch of scans into one pdf if you ask it to. And I am NOT a computer person and I found it simple to use, it's very intuitive to figure out. You want one. For real.Customer Review: indispensible

Hate having little pieces of paper receipts that road warriors have to deal with. I prefer to track my expenses as they happen instead of dealing with them all in one shot at the end of the month. This scanner is portable enough and has great resolution for documents. Has the added benefit of scanning to PDF files without necessarily importing them as a receipt. With respect to the program itself, I've had no issues with it. In some ways I wish it was more customizable and more intuitive but for the most part it does exactly what I need. I know my accountant appreciates the tax categories assigned to the receipts. If you keep up to date on the versions, you shouldn't have any problems. Customer service was responsive when I had issues with the original scanner (1 yr warranty). I've had a Neat Receipts organizer for PC for 4 years and absolutely love it. My dad has a Mac and has wanted to use a program like NR so I was thrilled to find they now make one for Mac. The software loads easily, great tutorials, and works immediately. The product is reliable, easy to use, and a time saver. There is a learning curve b/w the PC and Mac version if you have used the PC version. The document scanner makes emailing documents an option so that a fax machine is not necessary. The money and time it saves on taxes pays for itself the first year. The Mac version has fewer capabilities than the PC version, but that will change ~ Neat Receipts is great about updating the program to expand its functions.
