Customer Review: Still the best, even with its shortcomings...

While I actually agree with several points in the "one star" reviews of this calculator, they fail to provide an alternate calculator that has the universal acceptance and support enjoyed by the TI-89. Yes, the processor and memory could be faster... Yes, the display really should be on par with a Blackberry... Yes, the equation entry area could be larger... Is it sad that most hand held devices handily beat the TI-89 in terms of processing power, its display and ease of use? Definitely. Nonetheless, the TI-89 will continue to hold the "gold standard" position until we see a calculator on par with modern portable device technology. Even TI's latest creation, the Nspire, is a sorry excuse for an upgrade. That's why I give the TI-89 Titanium 5 stars as there does not yet exist a worthy competitor to it, even within the TI company itself.Customer Review: A Very Efficient and Helpful Calcalator!!!

Wow, that TI-89 Calcalator is one great calculator. I'm currently a freshmen, and i found this calculator useful for the rest of my life. With this calculator, you will succeed through advanced courses including AP Calculus, AP Statistics, AP Physics, and Engineering. The TI-89 also comes with four batteries, the actual calculator, a manual, and some other ads. You can download many things onto your calcalator. The calculator already comes with Cabri Geometry, a calander, a cellsheet, a clock, a contacts list... etc. and you could download Calculus, and a Learning Check.
Now for the disadvantages. Only two disadvantages. The case of the calculator is very hard to slide off, and everytime i tried to download a game, it froze on me. I don't really care about the games, and my calculator case is now easy to slip on.

My science and math minded daughter used a loner TI-89 all through her senior year of High School and, after being accepted at a very good engineering collage, asked for one of her own as a graduation gift. My daughter could have asked for another model or brand, but she did research and was set the TI-89. This was most useful for use in her AP Calculus and Physics classes so she checked and found that this would also be among the preferred model in her college classes.
This is a seriously complicated device with a large learning curve and is likely more calculator than most people will ever need, but for those that do need these functions this is likely the right choice. I have only used it once or twice out of desperation and was able to navigate the basic functions.

The TI-89 Titanium Graphing calculator is the best calculator I've ever owned and used. I switched from my HP-48 GX in 2003 and never had any regrets!
The TI-89 Titanium has + and - when it is compared to the HP-48GX. For instance, the display on the TI-89 doesn't appear as big as on the HP-48 GX ( a slight minus (-)).
However, this slight inconvenience, is greatly outweighed with the overall calculator ability of the TI-89 Titanium. The calcululator can effortlessly solve integrals, triple integrals, vectors, you name it. The screen display also lets you check to see that the equation or expression you're evaluating is actually what you desire. ((BIG PLUS ++).
I highly recommend this calculator to anyone who wants the defacto "most powerful calculator in the world".

As a student in Electrical Engineering, I highly recommend this calculator. If you are a freshman go ahead and invest in this one. Start learning it now so you can be ready for later. When performing complex math, the tedious calculations to switch from the time domain to frequency domain can take up a lot of time and it's extremely easy to flub up.
This machine can not only perform operations on these numbers but it can display them in any form you wish. Matrix math, simultaneous equations, and the equation solver are all huge assets of this machine.
This edition of the TI-89 also comes preloaded with EETools, an invaluable little app that is a reference for all the things we try to juggle in our brains. My homework grades immediately improved with this guy by my side.
