Customer Review: Great calculator
Summary: 5 Stars

There are really more features to this calculator than I think are necessary, but I'm not going to complain. Everyone in my math class has the TI-82 and 84's so the learning curve is pretty steep for me (no one to show me how to do stuff), but the manual does a pretty decent job of outlining how to do things. If you're familiar with the 82 or 84, this is WAY different. It's got tons of useful features that leave my classmates envious. I'm sure I'm not even close to figuring it all out yet, but I love it.

I ended up with this calculator because I am pursuing a Physics degree and wanted something that I could use all through school. I will say that this might not be a good calculator for everyone. I've done tons of programming professionally, so a lot of the functions and logical expressions are intuitive for me. If you're not planning on using any of the extra features the 89 has over the 84 or 82, it may be worth-while to stay with the 84.

Customer Review: Best Handheld Calculator I've Ever Used
Summary: 5 Stars

I upgraded from the TI-83+ Silver to this calculator when I started taking calculus. After using this calculator for several months, I still think it is the best calculator I have ever used. There is a large online developer community, so you can find a program to do just about anything. TI even has a version of the Geometer's Sketchpad that runs on the calc. It is much easier to program than the TI-83, and any functionality this calculator seems to lack can be easily added (and probably already has been -- just look online). The CAS on this calc (especially the incredibly versatile "solve(" function) is an invaluable tool in any math class from algebra onward.

Overall, the only real complaint I have is that the keyboard layout is a little bit clumsy, but after a while you will get used to it. This small problem is not nearly enough to stop me from giving this calculator my highest reccomendation. This is a 5-star product indeed.

Customer Review: Powerful, so powerful
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the most powerful scientific calculator in its class.
If you're majoring in Engineering, or plan to major it, then you must get this one (or regular Ti-89)
If you buy anything else for cheaper price, you'll have to spend $150 more to get this later anyway. (like me)
However if your Math class will end up in Calculus or Algebra(i.e. if you're not going to learn Diff. equation or harder), you don't really need this, you will just waste extra $70 for the features that you will never use (or features that aren't allowed to use in exam)
So think logically. It's really cool looking calculator and it got best software/hardware in the world.
But if one is going to use it for simple graphic or solving polynomial equations, then it's really like simulating windows and playing Doom3 on NEC Earth Simulator..
Used Ti-83 will do as good for those..

Customer Review: *~The only Calculator you will ever need*~
Summary: 5 Stars

The TI-89 Titanium is the only calculator anyone will ever need. Although it is designed for Advanced math (Calculus I and up), its easy to use icon based menu makes it practical enough to use for any application, from elementry Algebra to Differential Equations (it can handle O.D.E.s as well as those of a higher order), and you can be assured that this calculator contains the strongest mathematics OS that Texas Instruments has (it is comparable to the TI-200 Voyage but a bit cheaper, smaller, lighter and does not have the "pretty print" feature of the Voyage-hopefully with all of the expanded RAM Texas Instruments will include that feature soon). So whether you are a freshman in high school, a first year student at college or on the job site and tired of that HP, this calculator will fit all of your needs. It is the only calculator anyone will ever have to buy.

Customer Review: ain't easy to start
Summary: 5 Stars

It took a bit to learn all the new ways of entering info.

My suggestion to those who are buying a graphing calculator for the first time:

If you dont know how to do Trig yet, get the TI-84 or 83 any one of them, their about the same. because your teacher will prob teach you terms in those models, also, to use some basic features you need to already know some alternate ways of inputing info. such as root 3 must be inputed as X to the 1/3

If you made it above Trig without ever using a graphing calculator, congradulation! haha- i suggest this calculator Ti-89 because if you buy anything below, you'll have to learn a new way of inputing things in once you upgrade to this calculator--keys are all switched around.

other wise, great calculator! powerful, a bit dim screen. when will they install backlight!!!???
