Ordering and delivery were prompt. The product works as advertised. I researched this product at length, including the Texas Instrument site, and Found that Amazon was cheaper for the same product. Two things to keep in mind are that the user MUST ABSOLUTELY use windows XP/98/ME for the product to work properly. The TI site said it was compatible with Vista and I found out that it is not and even in compatibility mode will not function with Vista. The TI site also says that there are lots of free apps available for download. There are lots of free apps available especially for students using the calculator for physics data gathering applications. I am in College algebr and purchased it as it was a requirement for class. There are only a couple of apps for algebra and they are not very good. Several apps offered are far too large for the calculators memory. Everything has to be deleted in order for them to fit. Fortunate;y, the program allows the usaer to back-up all programs on the calculator prior to making any changes. The patch cable itself works well and as advertised. If you're wanting apps to go along with it i suggest looking at the TI site prior to purchasing to see if there is anything there that will work for you. Like I said, lots of cool apps for the upper egg-head classes, but nothing that will help to learn algebra other than what comes with the calculator.Customer Review: Yes, this cable works with the TI-86 calculator in WIndows XP!!

I saw the previous post regarding a customer who stated he had no problem using this cable with his TI-86. I was hesitant because he didn't state which operating system he was using. I can now confirm that this cable will work with Windows XP. Make sure to use the TI-Connect software and NOT the TI-Graphlink software! VERY IMPORTANT as only the TI-Connect software supports the TI-86 via the USB connection option. Make sure to download the latest version from the Texas Instruments (TI) website. As of 29 January 2007, the latest TI-Connect software version is 1.6. And you must have the Microsoft .NET Framework Windows Updates installed prior to installing the TI-Connect software. Last, but not least make sure you have the calculator turned on before connecting the USB cable to your computer!
It took Texas Instruments long enough to add support for the TI-86 to its TI-Connect software! I guess I can't complain as they did finally listen to their customer's complaints. Goodluck with whatever math course you have waiting ahead of you!

This item was as described but it took me ALOT of effort to get it to work properly. To the sellers benifit my calculator was the major factor in the issue I was having. IF you are running a REALLY old TI89 with the original OS then you will have the same issues. You will have to updat to the most recent OS before your computer OR the TI connect will recognize your cable, this is not terribly difficult if you know a little about computers the hardest thing was the file extension would not recognized by the calculator so I manually "fixed" the file extension to the one the calculator wanted. Then the new OS was successfully downloaded onto my OLD TI89 and now the cable and sowftware work great!

This is a very nice accessory to have for your TI calculator.The only catch is that while the cable
and related software will work with a large number of TI-Calculators the software on the CD is
only compatible with a few of them. If you have one of the calculators not listed in the installer
you will need to go to the TI website and download the right software from there. The software
included with the cable should really explicitly cover all the caluclator models that are actually
supported!
That said, once you get the software installed having the ability to edit data, take screen-shots, etc from your computer is really nice!
