Customer Review: Works fine with Linux

The connectivity kit USB contains the SilverLink cable and a cd with software (both PC software and files that seem to be TI83/84 programmes). Since I'm running Linux, I am only interested in the cable.
The cable works fine under Linux (2.6.23 kernel), with tilp2 v1.11 ([...]). The program identifies the SilverLink cable and my TI-92+ automatically. All I really need is to backup files from my TI (and to restore backups back to the device), and that works fine.
It may be useful to know that the back of the package says that it is compatible with a TI-82 for Window$ (but not Mac), with a TI-85 and TI-86 for the Mac (but not Win) and with a TI-83 (Plus (Silver edition)), TI-89, TI-92 Plus and Voyage 200 for both Mac and Win.

This cable is already available if you order a TI Voyage 200. Amazon's website gives you a "combined" price for Voyage 200 and this cable - which could be characterized as deceptive practice. When you order the "combo", Amazon ships Voyage 200 (which already includes the cable)from one vendor, and charges you for shipping; and then ships a separate cable from another vendor and charges you again for shipping. I am hoping I can return this at Amazon's cost and recover my second shipping cost as well. I have used this USB cable very reliably (the TI 94327 Graphlink USB) with the TI-89 Titanium graphing and scientific calculator and have had no problems with it at all. Contrary to what it says on Amazon, this unit is included with a brand new TI-89 Titanium calculator. The Graphlink has performed completely as advertised by TI and is of very high quality (it looks to me like it is quite durable and will last a long time if treated with care). I highly recommend it for general data transfer sessions and when downloading APPS to a PC from the TI educational website.Customer Review: totally worth it

the silverlink cable allows the ti89 to be used as a satellite computer. i commute to and from school, and can use the time to brainstorm for a paper, lab report, or spreadsheet, and upload the files for expansion in word or excel. while the graphlink program doesn't work directly with the silverlink cable, programs can still be written or edited in graphlink, making the process much more comfortable, and uploaded to the calculator manually.
i will also add, that in-depth knowledge of ti89 functions is worth acquiring. sit with the manual and play with it!

I got this as a replacement fo one tha I lost a couple of years ago. At that time I didn't kmow of the substantial variety of "applications" that you can download and use on this calculator. I recently had need for a couple of those app's and couldn't find my link cable. I ordered this one and it works just great!! And the cool app's are living and being used happily on my TI-89. If you have the right calculator, internet access, and like to have some really cool app's on the calculator, then you need this link cable. It is wonderful to use.
