Customer Review: Great antenna
Summary: 5 Stars

I live about 30 miles north of Dallas. I have Verizon Fios "fiber optic" Internet and Cable. I am actually paying for the HD package with the HD box and all. This antenna blows Verizon out of the water! The picture is much clearer and the sound is amazingly better. I only get the major network channels but I am considering dropping Fios! When I first got it, I bought the amplified version for $80 at my local Best Buy (really the worst prices!). Went on Amazon and saw that it was almost $50 cheaper and decided to return the other one and swap them out. Accidentally bought the non amplified one on Amazon's site (this could be an argument both for and against drinking and internet shopping). Even with the amplified, I had it on top of my entertainment center and it would lose signal quite often. I put the non amplified in the attic and have never had signal loss again. Very happy with this product. By the way, if you are curious, both antenna's are the exact same design and everything, the difference between the two is that the amplified comes with an ac adapter that you plug in at one end of the coax, so now that I accidentally discovered I didn't need the amplified, there's a little bit of electricity I won't be using (plus it saved me the hassle of trying to plug something in up in the attic).

Customer Review: This is THE indoor antenna - all bands UHF/VHF for HDTV
Summary: 5 Stars

Hope this isn't too long-winded, but if it helps someone else make an informed purchase, it's worth it.
I had originally purchased a PHDTV1 ( silver sensor ? - same as the ZHDTV1 I believe) and returned it - I could not get the ABC or CBS HD OTA broadcast channels. After calling the local ABC channel's engineer, he mentioned that they are broadcastnig HD at the VHF frequency level. So, after some more research, I noticed that the PDHTV1 was UHV, NOT VHF capable.
After buying the Terk HDTVi, BINGO! - installed in 10 secs, all channels were there and then some. CBS needed some tweaking of antenna position, but the other channels popped right in. So I can put up with some moving around of the antenna for 1 channel - or I need to play around some more to get ONE position for all channels.
Get this antenna. I'm 12-15 miles from the towers, 2-story aluminum sided house with nothing but trees and an airport (3-5 miles away) inbetween. The antenna is in a closet on the other side of the wall that my TV is mounted to. The attached cable is long enough.
This baby works for UHF AND VHF - required for HD in my city (just West of Cleveland, Ohio). And it costs about the same as the above mentioned antenna - shop around - B&H was the cheapest for me.
Good luck,

Turbo Tony

Customer Review: Highly recommended

The Terk model is based on the highly regarded Silver Sensor design and works very well. I expected the directional design to pull in many of the local stations which are clustered together in my locale but was surprised at how well it pulled in signals from far away in the opposite direction.

This was going to be a test for me to determine if I could get sufficient quality to justify replacing cable. Well the signal for all of the local channels is at least as good and in many cases even better than cable. I have mine installed in the attic and used the no longer needed, existing cable runs to connect it up to the rest of the house. Works like a charm.

I've read complaints about the base and the overall design being a bit top heavy and easily knocked over. So far I haven't had any problems, but see how this could be a problem. If it becomes an issue I'll put it in shoe box to keep it upright.

I chose to go with the non-amp version as this was initially a cheap test, but I also had an existing amp (something I needed to get decent quality digital cable anyway). Cable has since been disconnected. Between high quality local channels and internet tv, we have 90+% of our favorit local / cable channels and save over $1000/yr. C

Customer Review: Terk HDTVi Antenna
Summary: 5 Stars

I got a coverter box for an old TV and had two rabbit ear type antennas with an A/B switch on it to get reasonable reception. One was adjusted to bring in some of the channels the other was adjusted bring in most of ther other channels. I had to also do some adjusting of the the positions at times. I saw a Terk HDTVi at a garage sale and decided to try it. I had looked at this and other antennas before, but had heard differing opinions about them. One said they worked no better than a simple rabbit ears. I connected the HDTVi to my TV and found a position that brought in all of the channels most of the time. Channel 2, which was always a problem came in great. I had another old TV upstairs in my bedroom. It also had a converter box and a rabbit ears antenna. Having a higher elevation, the reception was a bit better, but still needed a lot of adjustment. I bought a new LED TV for my bedroom and tried the Terk HDTVi on it. It again greatly improved the reception. I bought another Terk HDTVi to replace the one I had in my family room and had moved upstairs.

I am pleased with these antennas and would recommend them.Terk Technology HDTVi VHF/UHF HDTV Indoor Antenna

Customer Review: Great Sturdy Antenna
Summary: 5 Stars

My goal was to test out antenna reception and hopefully discontinue my cable service. An outdoor antenna is not an option. I had bought a couple cheap (<$20) TV antennas from the local department store to try out. They would pick up some stations, but I constantly had to move the antenna around the room to get reception. Unsatisfied, I returned them. I purchased the Terk, and am able to set it in one position on a stereo speaker and receive 19 channels. I do have to rotate the antenna around for some of the channels as they are changed (this can make channel surfing difficult), but I do not have to move it around the room. It is a total success, and I have discontinued cable.

The antenna is made very well; much heavier duty that the cheap ones I tried out. The rabbit ears are very sturdy and long, and the coax cable is thick.

I live in an area where local stations are easily picked up, so your reception may or may not be satisfactory. But comparing this antenna to the 2 I purchased locally; the Terk is well worth the cost and the reception is much better than the cheap <$20 rabbit-ears on the market.
