There are so many cool places and unique storage spots on this bag!! I do not have a laptop yet, so I cannot speak to that unique point, but I have been able to fit a rain jacket and long sweater coat inside that space alone and never really notice they are there. I use the second and third smallest spaces quite a bit, and I STILL have lots more room. When I was looking for a college backpack I was looking in several areas. None were really working for me, and then this bag came up, and I decided to try it. For the money, it pays off in less than a week in what it will do for you!! I have at least 2 days of the week where I LOAD this bag with books and binders, and while it is heavy, the bag takes it. The handle is DURABLE and overall I cannot recommend this bag enough!! Everyone notices my bag and remarks how big it is, but I tell everyone the same thing: I was looking for something that would hold everything I would need, and in THIS BAG, I found it!!! For only $50 on Amazon, this is the ideal bag for anything you need it to do......Customer Review: Gigantic but in a good way

If you are like me, and you have a large amount of books and other stuff to carry around, this bag is perfect. And it has several pockets to store sunglasses, a bag lunch, a nice cell phone pouch that can fit anything from a reasonably sized Nokia to a clamshell phone hanging off of the left shoulder strap, Palm Pilot, iPod - with even a slot to fit your earbuds or headphones through, although that's kind of tricky -- a very well-padded storage area for your Notebook computer, all the connections and wires that accompany it, and, top it all off, a place for your water bottle.
If you are taking a lot of classes with a lot of books, the compartments are very spacious and can hold a lot. Unlike most reviewers here I find it very comfortable when full, and not heavy at all once you are used to a little extra weight.
Overall, I highly recommend this product, especially for the price, since a similarly equipped bag should cost over $[...] or more (but don't tell that to Amazon or the Manufacturer :D )

There is plenty of room with this bag. I can carry my 17" laptop and 1000+ page networking books and notebooks (as in paper notebooks). One feature I was looking for was smaller front pockets and this bag has them. I can put my wireless mouse in one, my glasses in another and all my pens and key fobs and business cards size things in yet another and still have room left over.
One problem, if you consider it a problem, is the bags is kind of big. Some people at work call it my parachute (it's really not that bad). It does fit just find under the seat on an airplane but if you had it fully loaded you might have to squish it in there. On the front of it you can unclip it and there is a couple net type of pockets behind the front part there. I'm not really sure what that is for..maybe shoes? Shoes might be too big but flip flops or something might fit in there.
I was looking at a bag at Best Buy for $99 that was not as good as this one.

I live inside the Washington, DC, beltway and regularly take the Metro and bus to work. Previously, I had used the work-supplied computer bag as my commuter bag. It gave me all sorts of trouble: the zipper broke from carrying a large, 1000-page book, lunch rarely stayed intact, no gym clothes could fit, I developed some fairly significant back pain while using it.
One month later, the Targus backpack couldn't be a better alternative. I regularly carry a 15-inch Dell, a book, my lunch, an umbrella, an iPod, and a zip-up folder with ease. Its easy accessibility allows me to switch out the work stuff for gym stuff. And the back pain has disappeared. I like the rigid handle, which allows me to hold it like a briefcase. I never had difficulty slipping the shoulder straps on. I have yet to use the water bottle or the pocket for the digital music player, but this has turned out as a great alternative for my regular commute. I highly recommend it!

I purchased this bag a few months ago when I got a new 17" laptop and my old 15.4" bag couldn't hold it. This bag, like nearly all Targus products is amazing. So many pockets to fit just about anything. I hold my laptop, my textbooks, a change of clothes, and all of the small essentials like my PSP, calculator, cell phone, sunglasses, hard drives, food, and just about anything else you would need to survive for a few days in here at all times. It's great. And it's nearly water proof. I've walked through quite a few showers already with dry clothes and laptop still intact within the pouches.
It doesn't, unfortunately, have quite as many pockets as my last bag(also a Targus) but it makes up for that with bigger pockets and more space throughout. Again a great bag. Definitely worth the buy. And at almost half the price of other retailers(i.e. Best Buy and Circuit City) it's definitely cost effective. Great Buy! Just click buy.
