Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Targus XL Backpack Designed for 17 Inch Notebooks TXL617 (Black with Blue Accents)Customer Review: Targus TXL617 17 XL Summary: 5 Stars
Pros: This thing is friggin' huge. I'm on the road a lot between school and work so I basically live out of this bag. It holds all my computer stuff, my school books, and some other stuff that I use at school and home and there's still a good amount of room left for more. I have a big 17" Inspiron 1720 so I was worried that it wouldn't fit in the compartment but it does and there's actually room to spare. The padding is pretty good too so I'm not worried about my books doing any damage to the computer. Feels very well made too so I don't think it'll even show any wear for a very long time. It's also pretty comfortable despite its size.
Cons: Although the padding is generally very good, I think it could have used a little more on the bottom of the laptop compartment since that's where the hardest impacts occur but it's not bad. The bag can also be very heavy when it gets filled up but I suppose that's a con of physics more so than the bag itself.
Overall: It's a pretty good bag, especially if you need to carry a lot of stuff with you like I do. Definitely worth the money if you're looking for a big bag that's solidly built. I'd buy another Targus bag if I needed one.
Customer Review: Love This Backpack Summary: 5 Stars
We have been really happy with this backpack. We purchased it for a 17" Acer laptop, specifically to take on a recent vacation. It had plenty of room for this oversized laptop, the cooler panel, all of the cables and other related equipment, and tons of other stuff (such as books, jackets, and pretty much anything else we wanted to carry).
There are so many assorted and varied pockets that we didn't know what to do with them all. And they were all very easy to get to.
It fit perfectly in the space between the front seats of our mini-van on the long drive from Texas to Florida and back, making it easy to get the laptop out when I needed it.
The backpack was really comfortable to carry for long periods of time, even though we probably had 40 pounds or more of stuff in it most of the time.
We would highly recommend this backpack to anyone who has a large laptop and a LOT of stuff to carry. It is sturdy and can handle as much as you want to shove in it.
We have also been very pleased with all of our shopping experiences with Amazon.com. No problems or complaints on any purchase. We will definitely be back!!!
Customer Review: Outstanding versus Pegasus Summary: 5 Stars
I went to a retailer (where I bought this for much more) to compare in person this backpack with the Pegasus. I'm glad I did. The main thing you need to do is to think about what you actually want to put in it. I have my PDA, which fits in the side pocket, my thermos, which fits in the other side ("water bottle") pocket, cell phone, which goes in the frontmost, small pocket, plus my HP dv9000 series 17" laptop, which goes in the padded compartment with inches to spare [the pocket is almost too big], dvd/cdrs, which go in the holder for those [great idea], some file folders, which go in the file compartment, and some huge books and the ac adaptor, which all fit in the other compartments. There are still pockets left over. It's as comfortable as the Pegasus in the straps, but thankfully lacks the odd hooks and stitches on the straps of the Pegasus which do nothing, as well as a strap that connects the back straps, which also looks ridiculous. Except for the rather odd skate board strappy compartment, this really suits. The Pegasus, by contrast, seemed to have pockets that didn't suit what I need to carry around. That is the crucial question.
Customer Review: Great backpack for engineering students Summary: 5 Stars
This thing is huge. I can fit my laptop and books in there with room to spare. I really like the little drink holder on the side, and it will securely hold a 20 oz bottle, so your caffiene is always handy. The webbed compartments are perfect for a TI-89 and laptop power adapter/mouse. The divider in the main compartment serves little purpose, but I just use it to separate class folders from books. For women and small men, be careful when going up stairs- fully loaded this pack can weigh enough to make you fall backwards easily. The belly strap works well and makes a heavy load more comfortable, but looks VERY gay. I am not entirely fond of the way the back flap clips on, but it is a great way to keep pencils, pens, and other little stuff separate from books and folders, and another benefit of this design is that even a fully loaded pack will not put any pressure on that compartment so your writing utensils won't get smooshed, and the compartment is still easy to access. If you want to something stylish, get another pack. If you have a butt-ton of books and crap to haul around and are looking for something functional, this is your backpack.
Customer Review: 2nd Targus Bag Summary: 5 Stars
This is my second Targus bag and it has been great for me. I had my first for 3 years and even when I got rid of it, it wasn't in that bad of shape. I just felt like getting something different and went with a bag from Bugout. I kept that bag for only a few months and quickly realized how bad I missed my Targus bag and wished I'd kept it so I decided to order a new one. The bag itself is very sturdy and stable. I really like the way it sits up on its own without having to lean up against anything. My old Bugout bag used to fall over with my laptop inside if I didn't prop it up against anything and I hated that. It took a few falls before it became second nature for me to always prop it when my laptop was inside. The side netting pocket on my new Targus bag broke, but I still give it 5 stars with only 4 in construction. I think I just have a fluke because my first had not a single problem, not even after 3 years of me dragging it around the world. Great product. Recommend to all. It carries my 14 pound, 17 inch, Alienware laptop with ease and the straps make it incredibly comfortable on my back.
