Customer Review: No more heat.!!

I own a 17" HP dv series laptop, with known heat issues. As we all know, all laptops generate heat, it is really how the design is made and its' efficiency that separates one from another. It can be a pain to do all the needed research including installing temp sensors, overclocking, resetting BIOS, etc., etc. In order to protect your investment, cooling has to be provided.
I was running GPU temps at 80 degrees Celsius before the Targus Chill Hub XC, and now I am at 65-69 degrees at loads with multiple apps running simultaneously to test the cooling factor. I am very pleased indeed. Although the manufacturers of both the laptop and GPU have BIOS flashes and "fixes" these are just things to make the laptop fans run almost constantly which can cause other issues eventually. I much prefer the cooling be done from the Targus, and this one has an on-off switch and two speeds which give me the control I need. The fans are super quiet at both speeds and thus far I haven't had to even use the higher setting for the fan. Note: I am in a room with ambient temps of 74-78 degrees F. If you are in a place where the temps are lower than that, your cooling effect should be greater.
I have had no issues with the unit's USB ports, although I admit I don't use them much, my laptop has plenty of available ports. I use the laptop on a hard flat table, on top of the Targus, with legs extended to give maximum clearance and airflow. Others have had probems but remember the Chill Hub was NOT meant to be used in bed, or on cloth or soft surfaces. It's like driving a car into the ocean and wondering why it won't keep running, you are working against the design of the Targus.!
I have researched other cooling pads and hubs and this one works fine for me. Just to see those temps come down and STAY down means my laptop will live a longer life, I get more out of my investment, and that's the point. Use the Chill Hub in the way it was designed to give you the effect you bought it for, properly position the laptop on a hard surface and you should be fine.
