Between CE Compass, Amazon, and USPS, I did not expect a speedy delivery.. But it sure was.
My 'Standard shipping' order which was placed on a Wed afternoon, arrived Sat morning.
The remote is a pleasure to use, light, good sized, and ergonomical.
The keys have an excellent feel to them. Maybe an improvement as far as the keys go could have been to make the Number keys at the bottom half of the remote, larger.
It controls the Hulu Desktop, XBMC, and the MS Media Center Portals on my Acer Revo R3610
which runs a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS. The small disk in the middle of the remote is a good substitute to a mouse. The cursor moves a bit slowly when pressing the disk but speeds up when holding it down. Many other keys provide useful keyboard functionalities like Enter, back, right/left mouse, clear, close (of applications or windows), and more.
For my initial configuration of applications, the PC itself, and various installations, the excellent remote keyboard and a mouse that came with the Acer were a must, but once it was all in place, this remote filled in just the right spot for daily control of the visually stunning Audio/Video portals to the Internet.
Lastly, the power button has a similar effect on the Acer as any remote has on a TV, DVD, Cable Box etc. Pressing it puts the Acer into a Sleep mode, and back on, all from the comfort of the couch.
Remember to define in Windows 'Button action' = placing the Acer to Sleep!! - otherwise clicking the remote may just do a 'shutdown' and you then have to push the actual physical button on the Acer to turn it back on, which is not what we want...
An UPDATE on a very useful other way to control your HTPC:
Google for a free small application called 'Synergy+' which you download to the Acer AND to another laptop/PC in your home which are on the same network.
You then define that Apps as 'Client' on the Acer, and 'Server' on the other laptop/PC. (sounds complicated but is very simple to do. Synergy's window offers you those selections, and their site has a good explanation on setting it up). Synergy+ works across different OS too.
Once installed, it's like magic.. you can control your Acer from your own laptop or PC - where all are connected to the same wireless network as the Acer.
Ever since I installed Synergy+ on my Acer (the 'Client'), and my Asus T91MT Tablet (the 'Server'), I do not need the mouse+Keyboard which came with the Acer!! - I have the Asus with me on the couch and I use its keyboard+mouse to control the Acer.
You do need a remote still, because some actions like System windows or installation windows that come up on the Acer/TV monitor respond only to the remote (or the Acer's own mouse).
