Customer Review: Works awkwardly with new Panasonic plasma Summary: 4 Stars
TV Ears works well on an old television set, but when I tried to connect it to a new Panasonic plasma unit nothing happened. The best way to attach TV Ears is to the "audio out" socket of the television set, but the Panasonic has none. There are several audio sockets, and I tried every one with no result. The Panasonic manual is horrible and Panasonic techs were uninterested in helping. The TV Ears instructions suggest plugging their unit into the cable set top box which works well, but not when playing a DVD. Attaching TV Ears to the DVD player also works, but then live television and the DVR can't be heard through TV Ears. The TV Ears instructions also suggest attaching one plug to the set top box and the other to the DVD player, but then to hear a DVD the set top box must be turned off. The only solution is two broadcast units-one attached to the set top box and the other to the DVD player and then unplugging one or the other. This works, but it is an added expense and kludgy.
Overall, the TV Ears personnel seemed unconcerned that their system works so awkwardly with relatively new technology.
Customer Review: I Use It Every day Summary: 4 Stars
TV Ears, a good item and AMAZON, a great way to buy it.
I ordered a replacement head set thru AMAZON because (believe it or not)I lost the original. I paid for only a head set, what I received was a complete new unit, headset and base. I don't know whether that was Amazon's doing, or TV Ears' doing.
The headset battery lasts a lot longer than advertised, mine lasted well over two years. The only criticism I have regards the tone control. It has little to no effect on what I hear. I've been told by TV Ears that my unit is the less expensive "NEW MODEL." The "ORIGINAL MODEL" (more expensive) has better tone control.
Customer Review: FANTASTIC PRODUCT Summary: 4 Stars
My apartment is setup where the furnace room is right next to the living room. So, anytime the furnace/air conditioner turns on, it drowns out the TV. It was annoying to be constantly turning the TV volume up and down. I was also worried about playing the TV so loud that it would impose on my neighbors. I purchased a set of TV ears and it completely solved the problem. The sound it perfect. My only complaint is that the ear pieces do become a little uncomfortable after wearing for a longer length of time. But this is a small price to pay in order to hear my TV at a constant volume level. A++++
Customer Review: Tv Ears a good choice. Summary: 4 Stars
These are good for our families use. I use them at night when family is asleep.
So cheaper earphones would work but these are wireless and sound quality to my liking. My husbands sometimes plays tv too loud and if he used then consistenly this would help. Just don't like exhorbitant cost of ear tip replacements and shipping. Rip off there. Our Dad 91 has 3 prs. one at his home, one at my sisters and one at his neighbors house. He now has hearing aids but can still use them on top to keep the tv silent while those who are not watching tv can do other activities.
