This is one of the best gifts I ever bought. My mother is 80 years old with very limited hearing. She cannot tolerate the sound of the tv as the noise is distorted. So for years, my father has been reading the captions. For my dad's 87th birthday I got him the TV Ears. Now he can listen to the tv with the captions on. Everyone is happy! He is enjoying his news programs and sporting events. The headset is light weight and it is cordless and easy to manage. Being somewhat hearing impaired (I hear the sounds but they are garbled without my hearing aids), I found that watching TV was not enjoyable (not only because of content (grin) but many sounds were muffled. I bought TV Ears and instantly fell in love with them. For me they are pretty comfortable and the TV sound is so clear that I don't use closed captioning except the occasional video from Britain with a lot of Cockney accents (grin).
I give TV Ears a very high recommendation!

Got TV Ears for my wife who is having difficulty catching all the dialog on programs. She loves them. Now she is enjoying watching movies with me again. She also loves the fact they don't mess up her hair!
I sometimes watch and lisen to TV privately with a nice set of headphones. The sound quality of those is terrific. That's why I gave 4 rather than 5 stars to the sound quality of TV ears. It's relative. The sound is fine - just not superb.

I purchased these as a gift for my mother who has a profound hearing loss. She previously had to view TV only with closed captions. She loves these. They are very comfortable and you can adjust volume and tone without affecting the volume coming out of the TV speaker. They can also be used with no volume at all coming out of the speakers. My husband needed the sound up on the TV to be able to hear every word. Some friends had gotten the TV Ears and liked them so much they had purchased a second set. That was good enough for me to get them for my husband for Christmas...at first he wasn't sure as he had tried another type but...after giving them a chance he really likes them and I am happy for the both of us. And a big plus was that Amazon was the least expensive...as they usually are.
