Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of TV Ears 10341 2.3 System Wireless Headset System (Blue)Customer Review: Way better than standard wireless headphones Summary: 5 Stars
Despite some negative reviews here, we bought a pair of these for my father in law. Boy are we glad we did.
We had no problems connecting them. No static. They fit his large head just fine. He can eat with them on. He does not find them uncomfortable.
My father in law has moderate hearing loss, and normally needs the TV turned up very loud. That drives everyone else crazy. He had a pair of standard wireless headphones for a while, but they are not designed for people with hearing loss. They sometimes would not get loud enough, and were especially useless if connected to the variable-audio-out on the TV (meaning they play the same volume as the TV speakers.)
We got him the TV ears, and everyone is very happy. The TV ears have a feature that is not explained well in the marketing. They manage volume independently of the TV. If your TV has variable audio output jacks, when people listening through the speakers adjust the volume, it also effects the audio output through the jacks. The TV ears compensate for this somehow, meaning that my mother-in-law can turn the TV volume up or down without effecting the TV ears.
Also, the TV ears are not simple headphones. They enhance dialog. This means that even though they can be turned up very loud, my father in law does not need to make them as loud as he did with his standard wireless headphones.
We also appreciate the rechargeable batteries.
There is also an "original" version of TV ears for people with more severe hearing loss. We were not sure which to get. Turns out this model was sufficient.
They do have a money back guarantee (but check the seller's policy) so we decided to try it out. We are really glad we did. He uses them every day.
By the way, this should be listed under the product's correct name, "TV Ears 2.3 MHz Wireless Headset System" product code 10341. If you need the "original", it is listed multiple times on Amazon, here is one: TV Ears Original Wireless Headset System - Headphones ( under-chin ) - wireless
Customer Review: Best thing since closed captioning Summary: 5 Stars
I'm hearing impaired, and very often television shows (especially older ones) don't have closed captioning. This is also maddeningly true with some of the newer movies, even from big studios. There's a law regarding closed captioning, but sometimes producers simply don't follow it. It's frustrating.
I have tried several headsets over the years with varying degrees of success. Bringing the sound directly to your ear vastly improves your ability to understand what is being said (it actually helps to use a headset instead of a hearing aid when trying to improve comprehension - I don't understand the physiology of it, but it works). What's unfortunate is that most headsets aren't designed for the hearing impaired. They're designed for people who want to listen to music as they roam around the house. This means that the headsets aren't optimized for voice enhancement, and instead deliver quite a bit of bass. Bass tones don't improve comprehension, they lessen it.
That's where TV Ears comes in. Yes, the name is a bit silly, but these things really do work. The first time I used them I had the silliest smile on my face, because for the very first time I was understanding what was being said *perfectly*. The sound quality was magnificent, and the voice enhancement that the product brags about is spot-on.
There's an added bonus.
TV Ears says that most theaters use the same technology that they do. I wasn't sure I believed that, so continued to use the (most often) old and sometimes dysfunctional headsets that theaters provide. Fed up with watching theater employees throw headsets into bins, and at least a 50/50 shot that when the movie started I was going to have to go back and exchange the headset, I tried the TV Ears. They worked. Instead of simply "booming" the sound, it was just like at home. They enhanced what was being said. I go to movies all the time, so now I "never leave home without" them. They're better than American Express. <wink>
Customer Review: TV Ears Wireless works like a charm Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this product initially from Radio Shack for my father who is very hard of hearing. He listens to the TV so loud that none of the rest of us can hear ourselves think. I went to Radio Shack in desperation to find a solution and the young guy at the store said "I have the same father and I gave him these".
The TV Ears are very light weight, come with a rechargeable stand, and my father can dial the receiver within the headset higher to listen to his TV program at level 10 when at the same time the rest of us can listen at level 5. The sound goes directly into his ear so that he does not need his hearing aids and it is comfortable. My father thanked me for them and I said they actually were for the rest of us but I was pleased that he liked them.
Once I knew he liked them I went online and found them on AMAZON and purchased two additional TV Ears. One more for my fathers second TV and one for myself for when I wake up in the middle on the night and do not want to disturb my husband while I watch TV.
The best thing about the AMAZON connection was the product was half the price I paid at Radio Shack with no shipping and tax plus the fact that I did not have to leave home to get them and get them quickly.
If you are someone that could use something like this do not hesitate to buy it you will be very happy.

Customer Review: TV Ears Wireless Headphones Complete System Summary: 5 Stars
This was the third item of my order that arrived packaged properly. Had a small problem with it arriving on a Saturday afternoon. I could not get the headphones to charge much less see any lights on according to the brochure.
Made a call to the service department listed in the brochure and the person said he would make a note of my call in their computer. I gave him my phone number for them to call me Tuesday because I thought I would be out of town on Monday.
Turned out that I was in Monday and I called back and the service lady connected me with their technician and together we determined that the frog that breaks down the voltage was defective. After describing the item in detail to him he knew which one I had and he was placing an order for a new one to be sent to me.
And, he told me if this did not work to call him back and he would send me a new complete system. The new frog solved my problem and the complete set is working fine.
Great Experience Indeed!!!
Customer Review: Great For Watching TV In Bed While Spouse Sleeps Summary: 5 Stars
Purchased this for my spouse to use when watching TV in bed while I am trying to sleep. Very simple to set up and use. We have not seen the problem a few have reported with the ear pieces being uncomfortable or the receiver being heavy enough to pull the ear pieces out of the ear. The headset we received is very light. Only complaint is that there is not enough sensitivity in the volume control on the low end. Barely moving the volume dial from the OFF position results in earpiece volume loud enough that I can hear it when my spouse is next to me wearing the headset. Have to be very careful to only move the volume dial a tiny bit or sound is much too loud. I thought it might be a function of the audio out signal from the TV but I tried multiple channels on two TV's and had the same issue with both TV's. Would be nice if the full range of the volume control was usable. Overall a minor issue, though, that is easily dealt with by neing careful positioning the volume dial. I highly recommend this product.
