Customer Review: Does what it says it will!
Summary: 2 Stars

Tvears do work as stated on the website, so that is why I'm giving it 2 stars.

I have to agree with a few of the other reviewers the Tvears are very uncomfortable to wear for any length of time. After trying them for a week, back in the box they went to be returned.

If you have a loved one that is bedridden I think these would work fine. But any movement causes them to "swing" from the ears and becomes painful after a little while.

For now, a moderate priced pair of wireless headphones will do.

Customer Review: Wrong model for my TV !
Summary: 2 Stars

I have a flat-screen LCD TV, and the original TV ears does not work well with flat screen TVs...they pick up static from the flat screen. If you have a flat screen TV, you need to get the professional model of TV ears. I was luckey, and Amazon took them back and refunded the purchase price in full; then I bought the professional model, which works fine !

Summary: 2 Stars

should have beed designed as ear muffs. these are uncomfortable and become annoying after a short while. they do work well for the sound part but the design is not worth the money. as long as you are in an upright position they work well, for all other positions they are uncomfortable.

Customer Review: Great idea, terrible construction
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought one of these and my father-in-law bought two. One worked immediately, one required an hour with tech support, and one is defective. The defective one has a short in the headset. If I wiggle it just right, it will work for awhile, then it cuts out or is just static.

The overall construction is cheap. The headset sits precariously in the charging cradle. There is no positive connection. It just sort of balances there loosely, like it could fall out.

The connector pins in the base unit just stick up -- easy to break or bend. The instructions even warn about this. They should be recessed.

The female connector is too large so that the pins do not make a solid connection. Was this designed by a rookie?

The base unit has space to charge 2 headsets. There is a light indicating whether it is charging. But just one light for both headsets. If the headset is in one slot, the light turns green. If it's in the other one, it turns red. Red? To show trhat it is working? What genius thought this up? If it's both headsets afre charging, it turns amber. Why not 2 lights? Duh?

Then there is a bunch of lights (5-6) along the base that glow very dimly sometimes. The instructions

Then there are a bunch of lights across the front. The manual says they will be on sometimes. Not sure what they are for.

One positive note. Tech support is very patient. My father-in-law spent well over an hour on the phone and said the guy was helpful. Didn't get it working, but he was pleasant.

It's a great idea. The headset is light, so should permit wearing for long periods of time, unlike heavy headsets.

I am concerned that IR is not the way to go. RF might be better. When I get my replacement unit (I'm still waiting on Electronica Direct, who I am not impressed with so far), I plan to use it across the room and through a doorway while riding a stationary bike.

I think someone needs to make a unit that is just a receiver and allow me to plug in my own headset. Then I could use heavy ear phones or light ear buds as I prefer.

Customer Review: Very poor design and construction
Summary: 1 Stars

A good idea ruined by poor design and poorer quality. Maybe I got a bad one, but if so their quality control is horrible. First, I had to jiggle it just to get it to charge. Not nearly as easy as the video suggests. The small pins on the base unit do not make a solid contact with the headphones. Even if they work initially they most likely will fail once some tarnish sets in. The contacts are not gold plated, so they will tarnish.

The range was horrible. If I got further back than about 6', all I got was static. And even at 6' it was extremely directional. If you turned your body the slightest, the sound completely dropped out. Someone walking in front of the set would kill the sound.

I mistrust companies which throw out gratuitous marketing terms, solely to bamboozle the less-technically capable. 2.3MHZ, the box screams. Um, this thing runs on infrared light, not radio. Maybe there's something inside the box that uses a 2.3MHz signal, but that's got nothing to do with its operation. Complete marketing techno-babble.

Bottom line, a complete rip-off!
