This product was very helpful. It made checking out an existing network very easy. This tool saved us time and money. We were able to check out existing connectins as well as new ones. We were able to use existing wiring and not start for scratch. The previous reviews really helped in the decision to purchase this item. Making network cables can be frustrating. If you don't complete all 8 circuits the cable usually won't work. This tool makes it easy to ensure that the cables are made correctly and that the clips at each end are attached plus the all 8 circuits are correct before trying to install the cable. I would highly recommend this tester to anyone who is on a budget but needs a reliable tester to check network cables. I did not use the tone generator function, but it worked great with the included remote for identifying the cables. I just used this to map out and test 200+ cat5e drops in a new office we're moving to. With it I was able to identify 4 problem lines, as well as create an accurate outlet map on the floor plan. I'm sure other tools out there do the same thing, it's a pretty simple process. I used this device the very first day it arrived, found the issue I was having immediately. A brand new cable that was bad, never would have found it without this device. I thought I had a router problem, good thing I tested the cables. I have been needing one of these testers for some time now I will never be without one.
