Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of TRENDnet 300 Mbps Wireless Easy-N-Upgrader (TEW-637AP)Customer Review: Couldn't ask for anything better for the price. Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this to add as an access point to my wired Actiontec DSL modem. I had originally planned on just getting a new wireless modem but the price for this was just too good a deal to pass up ($27.00 on Buy.com). Installation was a breeze with one exception. I was installing on a Windows 7 laptop and when the installation was done I got an error saying that the installation couldn't be completed. Upon looking into the reason, I found that everything was operational with no problems. I don't know why it said it couldn't be completed. I am able to get 65 meg. anywhere in my house as well as outside. If your looking for an inexpensive way to convert to wireless, this is the way to go.
Customer Review: Great for upgrading a cable provider's wireless router Summary: 5 Stars
I had a cable modem/wireless router provided by the cable provider as part of a package deal. This router supported 802.11g. I was receiving around 12 mbps (using the speedtest.net test) on several notebooks that I had. These notebooks have a wireless card that supports 802.11N as well as 802.11g.
When I installed this product the data rate using the same test increased to 20+ mbps on a consistent basis on all of the notebooks that I had. The cable provided router now supports 802.11g devices and I set the 637AP to support 802.11N only (using the web interface).
I thought this increase in speed was well worth the price of this item.
Customer Review: GREAT ADD ON Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this access poing about a year ago because of my access point built into my router needing to be restarted often. Just like other reviewers, all I can say is wow. It has been up there working so long that I may have forgot my password to get into it. It has outsanding range, and gives me a strong signal all over my house. Something my other access point did not ( I shoud say my previous access point was not a cheap one either ) I am now recommending it to my father. This is a pretty good buy.
My only con is that the wireless N is not standarized so it does not work on all my N devices. But this is easily overlooked because of it being dependable.
Customer Review: cheep and good Summary: 5 Stars
Pros: Low cost, fast speeds, good tech support.
cons: Setup was a hassle but that seems to be my fault (and that of my school).low tech detail in the owners manual
The install CD works great for people who just want a basic setup. I wanted to do a complicated set up and that was not as easy. I spend 2 hours on the phone with tech support and could not get it to work right. but then I rebooted my cable box, switch, and this device (in that order) and got it working.
Now it is working fine, speeds seem great (on G only as I have no N devices). I have not had any issues with it drooping my connection.
Customer Review: Works as it should Summary: 5 Stars
So here's the scenario. I set up a wireless router at my girlfriend's house so she could get internet on her netbook. However, in her basement, with a concrete foundation, the signal DROPPED off. So I got one of these to wire downstairs. It worked GREAT, and she could still have internet upstairs and outside with the router, and downstairs with the access point. The ONLY complaint I have is that you need a seperate password and username to access it. So upstairs and downstairs had different "networks". I'd either pick something very simple, or have the upstairs and downstairs be the same.
