Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of TRENDnet 2-Port USB KVM Switch Kit with Audio (Includes 2x KVM Cables) TK-209K (Blue)

Customer Review: works as expected
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this KVM at $14.95 so it is considerably cheaper than my last KVM purchase. Once I realized the USB headset was conflicting with the USB port I had this plugged into it worked flawlessly. I just rearranged the USB ports until both the audio and KVM were working. I have 6 USB ports on my docking station so I'm sure there are potential controller conflicts. I'm pretty happy with it but I don't use the audio functionality since my audio is currently only used for one computer. My wireless keyboard and mouse are combined on one USB receiver so I have an extra USB input port on the KVM. I'm considering trying to use the second USB port on the KVM for the USB headset but I'm not sure this will work.

Customer Review: Wow! GREAT item!

I use this switch every day! I did not have to install any software or anything. I use the manual switch buttons on the device itself. I hear if you install drivers or software, you can use hot-keys too. However, I find it very convenient the way it is.

One main feature I loved about this is the USB ports for Keyboard and Mouse! I have no video issues, and response is as good as being plugged straight into the machine itself! VERY handy!

Notes: I measured the cables, and they are exactly 4 feet long, if you measure from the very edge of the connector to the other edge. (including connectors, and everything) ... about 45 inches of cable between the connectors themselves.

Customer Review: Does a great job, even with wireless keyboard
Summary: 5 Stars

I've owned the Iogear 2-Port Compact KVM Switch for years, and it was great with wired keyboards. But when I switched from a Logitech wired Wave keyboard to the Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000, the Iogear wouldn't do a thing.

The TrendNet, by contrast, was totally plug-and-play. Not only did it work with the wireless keyboard and wireless mouse, it did so on the first boot. Even before Vista had a chance to install the drivers, I was able to use the USB wireless keyboard to enter my BIOS password. You can't beat that.

Also, switching between PCs is very fast, and you get the option of using either a hard switch or a keyboard shortcut, both of which work fine.

Customer Review: Love It (XBox 360 and a Notebook Win7)
Summary: 5 Stars

The first thing that impressed me was the Xbox sound (unamplified - I use Bose ear buds - love them too) via the TK-209K, love the picture quality as well - all this for about $24.

I only had one question; namely, the audio cables come with 2 ends (green and pink) which worried me since I don't have sound card (left and right channel). So was I getting stereo? Amazingly they have a 24/7 365 day support line. It only took 30 seconds for the support person to tell me that the green was the stereo plug that I could plug into my laptop's ear phone jack and that the pink was just a stereo mic plug that I could use if I wanted that functionality.

Customer Review: Adequate KVM switch, great price point
Summary: 5 Stars

My wife uses this switch daily. She uses her office laptop at home but doesn't have a docking station, so we use this switch to give her the big monitor and full-size keyboard.

For the price, my expectation was it would work for maybe a year and then we'd be shopping for another, more expensive model. Well it has now been 15 months and it's still going strong! My wife actually prefers to click the button on the unit rather than use the keyboard shortcut (double-tap CTRL key I think it is) and there is a slight delay before the mouse starts working. Overall, it's been a good purchase. If and when it does eventually fail, I'll probably just purchase this same model again.
