I know that other reviewers have given this product low marks. My experience has been very positive. I previously had an Arkview USB 2.0 Printer Server. The Arkview software kept on freezing up on my Windows Vista laptop. The TRENDnet 1-port print server (TE100-P1U) was my second (and final) printer server purchase.
I had a hitch in the setup using the default IP address. But the problem was solved by selecting the dynamic DHCP function. I installed the software Windows XP and Windows Vista laptops. The setup application worked without a hitch on 3 of my 4 laptops. The fourth one needed to be manually set. But the instructions were complete and I was able to connect after stepping through the instructions.
My printer is a 12 year old HP LaserJet 2100M. It has an old Apple printer port and a parallel printer port. I'm using a parallel to USB converter cable and I wasn't sure if it would work with the TRENDnet USB print server. I was pleasantly surprised that everything worked out well.
BTW, I'm using a Netgear WNDR37AV Router.
