Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Transcend 8 GB SDHC Class 6 Flash Memory Card TS8GSDHC6ECustomer Review: Used in Treo 700p and in USB Card Reader Summary: 5 Stars
This 8GB SDHC is my second Transcend SD card. My first was an 1GB SD.
After having used some real slowpoke doozies in my Treos (namely Ritek, PNY, and "generic" cards of capacities between 1-4GB), I would rate these as good or better than SanDisk Ultra II's for quality and speed. The 1GB 120x Transcend SD card seemed almost as fast, but this Class 6 SDHC card is the fastest SD card I've ever owned. Saving 300k photos is almost instant and so is switching between apps and email stored on the card.
Note, though, if using on the Palm OS - it will show only 4GB available; however, once you fill up the first 4GB, it will then show the actual remaining capacity. It does not affect the amount (7.5GB) of usable space, though. This is a quirk of the PalmOS rather than the card. Using an SD-to-USB adaptor, the capacity shows correctly.
I can't wait to get my hands on the 16GB version from Transcend (and later the 32GB version) at a reasonable price (i.e., when they fall under $100).
Customer Review: Excelente producto Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the Transcend 8GB SDHC Class 6 and I am very satisfied with the product quality and performance. I have evidence of performance and surprisingly reaches compared with the "8 GB SanDisk Ultra II SDHC Card", but for 30USD less :D
On WindowsXP and a reader SDDR-113 (Sandisk) reaches 19MB/sec reading and writing 14MB/sec with PRO HD Tune.
The product was delivered to me in his blister factory, and sealed with textbooks and stationery rigour
Customer Review: Excellent SDHC Card at Unbeatable Price Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this card to use in my MP3 player (one of the Insignia models from Best Buy). Having bought into the Sandisk hype for years, I decided the substantially lower cost of the Transcend made it worth a try. It works great and the class 6 speed is very fast compared to slower cards. The lifetime warranty can't be beat.
I've used it for 6 months with no issues at all. I'm so impressed that I'm buying another to upgrade the smaller 2Gb card in my wife's Nikon D40. The price on this card fluctuates, so with a little patience you can get it less than $20 (Fall 08).
As others have commented, please note that this card is a high capacity (SDHC) card. It is not compatible with every SD device in existence. Do your homework before you buy to make sure your device and/or card reader works with SDHC cards. Don't assume!
Bottom line: Highly recommended for devices that accept SDHC cards.
Customer Review: Saving my data Summary: 5 Stars
In these modern times, computers with windows & hard drives are wonderous miracles, but some of our computers crash, & since these little memory chips can remember for at least ten years, we can now save our favorite little programs, & data, that could be easily lost.
If we overload our computer & we must do recovery, that will only erase the C drive, and the memory chip is safe from recovery.
Cd's are also great for saving files, if kept in a safe place, but a scratch may destroy what you were saving.
If your computer has a place for memory chips, then great, but many have a USB port, you can get a card reader, & begin to save anything that you dont want to loose, on a little memory chip like this one.
This 8 GB Transend, was reasonably priced. They are not only good for pictures, but data also, & you have no problem to edit any files that you wish.
Customer Review: A bargain! Fast and good SD Class 6 card Summary: 5 Stars
All I can say is WOW! We have sure come a long way in a short time. This little 8GB SDHC memory card is all one could ask for in an SDHC card. In my Nikon D80 it lets me take hundreds and hundreds of pictures. Speaking subjectively, the write speed seems to be faster than the camera's buffer, so that the card is not a bottleneck when taking a long series of continuous photos.
I bought one of these cards with the conventional packaging and one through Amazon's "hassle free" packaging. I highly recommend the latter. The conventional packaging does not give you the little plastic CF card holder, plus the bubble wrap is a cast-iron bear to remove. Buy the "hassle free" version, get the little container, and save yourself the hassle.
Two or three of these inexpensive cards, and one would have enough photo capacity for any vacation. I love the digital age!
