Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Transcend 8 GB 133x CompactFlash Memory Card TS8GCF133

Customer Review: Not just for cameras anymore
Summary: 5 Stars

I like to tinker. I bought one of these, hoping to swap out the 4 Gb Microdrive in my RCA Lyra mp3 player. Also bought some different CF-to-IDE adapters to try. Ultimately, I wasn't able to get it to work in the RCA player (they really boogered-up the microdrive when they designed the player). All was not lost, however...

The drive comes formatted, with a single Fat 32 partition. I Ghosted the microdrive and ended up with a 4 Gb partition on the Trancend card, which still didn't work in the RCA. Not to worry. I learned that my iPaq pocket PC has a Compact Flash slot, and makes an excellent 4 Gb mp3 player. Using an adapter (also purchased here on Amazon), I was able to plug the drive directly into an IDE header, and use a W2K install CD to re-partition and format a new 8 Gb FAT 32 partition. I was AMAZED at how fast the drive partitioned and formatted. (The drive's paperwork states that it supports Ultra33 IDE speeds - not blazing speed, but not bad, either.) As soon as I finish loading the drive again, I will have an excellent 8 Gb mp3 player.

Bottom line? Excellent value for the price. Will work fine for all but the most demanding applications.

Customer Review: Excellent Card, Great price
Summary: 5 Stars

This Transcend 8GB Flash Card has been great. I have not had any problems with it what so ever.

Speed wise: While shooting I never have problems I'm shooting with a 40D with 10 Megapixel Raws which gives between 500-600 RAW files. For jPegs the camera can not even count how many it can possibly take. Well over 1000.

The only downside is when you are doing a transfer to the PC. It can take a few minutes. But what do you expect for an almost full 8GB card. Try copying 8GB between HD's.

And the only other downside, with all these RAW files I'm having to upgrade my memory now and hard drive space. :) ;-)

Overall excellent product and price. Pick One Up!

Customer Review: speed tests
Summary: 5 Stars

This card is speedy enough for my tastes. Shooting w/ my Nikon D70s in burst mode: I can record 3fps (frames per second) in raw for the first four shots and average 1.5 sec between shots thereafter (by comparison, my extreme IV 2 GB card gets 5 shots off at 3fps and averages 1.0 sec between additional shots). If I shoot with the transcend card in the maximum jpeg setting the results are even better: 3fps for the first 11 shots and 0.9 sec between shots thereafter.

I was able to read 786mb off the card in 48sec (51sec with extreme IV) using my sandisk extreme usb reader. Writing 786mb to the card from my computer (which I never do) was, however, slow: 105sec compared to 57sec with extreme IV.

Customer Review: A MUST HAVE for Photographers and Novices a like
Summary: 5 Stars

Monsterous amount of space, FAST and INEXPENSIVE. I have used these cards, yes I have more then one and I have used them in Nikon D200, Olympus Camedia 8080 and others and it comes close to many of the SanDisk Extreme III cards in speed and beats some others. Regardless of that you have the ability to take thousands of photos on one card and for $30 give or take when you search for it online. I recommend it and if you get via Amazon you usually have the option to return it if you have problems. Always check the return policies where ever you purchase items, especially through other sellers whom do not often have a similar easy and wide ranging return policy like amazon.

Customer Review: Good for the price

Transcend TS8GCF133 8GB 133x Ultra Speed Compact Flash Card

I bought this for my Canon Digital Rebel XTi SLR. I previously used a Sandisk Ultra II 1GB card and needed extra storage. Instead of spending almost the same amount on an Ultra II 4GB or an Extreme III 2GB/4GB, I read the reviews about this card and decided to purchase it. Could not be happier. The recording times are faster than the Ultra II, and speeds copying to the PC through a card reader is more than adequate. Might pick up another as a backup.
