Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Transcend 16 GB Class 6 SDHC Flash Memory Card TS16GSDHC6E

Customer Review: excellent card for HF100
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this recently for my Canon HF100. This card works fine with that camcorder (i.e. I can record at the highest quality possible - 17Mbps). The thing to note though is HF100 does not really require a card this fast (i.e. Class 6). It requires only Class 4. But then, this card currently is available for about the same price (or less) as any other Class 4 card.. So go ahead and buy this - it works as advertized.

Also about the capacity, for the battery that comes with HF100, there is no significant benefit buying one 16GB Vs 2 of 8GB cards (right now, 2 8GB cards go for $10 less than a 16GB). This is because the battery lasts only about an hour, and an 8GB card is perfect to record video at highest quality setting for slightly over 1 hour. So if you arent planning to buy an additional battery (which is $90 now, because it is too new), I would say get this (or some other) 8GB card. By the time the price for the battery comes down, the 16GB cards would have come down even further, so you can buy 16GB card at that time.

Customer Review: Excellent value, works great with my Canon Vixia HF10!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was very impressed with the "Frustration-Free Packaging" -- I'd never seen that before -- I don't know why fragile little electronic gadgets have to be packed in plastic containers that require intensive and violent cutting ripping and tearing in order to be opened. This one is just a padded paper envelope that can be torn open, easy as pie.

I've used this for weeks with my Canon Vixia HF10 camcorder to record high definition video files (AVCHD format). It works great - and I'm very happy with the price. I bought one card by itself and one with the reader - combined with my onboard memory I should be set for most projects. I really like to use the reader since it leaves my camcorder free - and it's so much handier (for some reason by design the camcorder won't run off batteries when it is downloading files, so you have to plug it in to the wall outlet and also plug it into the computer with a USB 2.0 cable; with the little card reader all I do is pop out the card and plug it into the reader and plug that into the USB outlet).

Customer Review: Used in Treo 700p and in USB Card Reader
Summary: 5 Stars

This 8GB SDHC is my second Transcend SD card. My first was an 1GB SD.

After having used some real slowpoke doozies in my Treos (namely Ritek, PNY, and "generic" cards of capacities between 1-4GB), I would rate these as good or better than SanDisk Ultra II's for quality and speed. The 1GB 120x Transcend SD card seemed almost as fast, but this Class 6 SDHC card is the fastest SD card I've ever owned. Saving 300k photos is almost instant and so is switching between apps and email stored on the card.

Note, though, if using on the Palm OS - it will show only 4GB available; however, once you fill up the first 4GB, it will then show the actual remaining capacity. It does not affect the amount (7.5GB) of usable space, though. This is a quirk of the PalmOS rather than the card. Using an SD-to-USB adaptor, the capacity shows correctly.

I can't wait to get my hands on the 16GB version from Transcend (and later the 32GB version) at a reasonable price (i.e., when they fall under $100).

Customer Review: Fast shipping and Affordable

I ordered with Amazon Frustration-Free shipping/packaging, and received my (16gb) memory card the VERY next day! The packaging really was without frustration; I just had to rip a paper strip and within seconds I was able to put the memory card directly to use.

The huge space allows me to take over a thousand of the highest available quality of photos on my Canon PowerShot SD1400IS, which is more than enough for me! The pictures transfer with ease to my computer and other harddrives (using the memory card or the USB cable that came with the camera).

Amazon has continued to amaze me with service, as well! The day I was due to have this sent to me, we had terrible snow here in Michigan. It was bad enough to even shut down my university, which rarely closes. That very day, my doorbell goes off and my package arrived. They had warned that I should expect a delay due to the inclement weather, and yet I still received it right on time. Hooray!
