I have just received this as a birthday present, and am very pleased with it. While the design of the object remains true to older models, with its sturdy and shiny black plastic outside and jukebox appearance, there are new features that make it possible to play all of your music on one machine- a radio, and a high-tech cd drive. A casette player is not included- not that it really matters, but that might be helpful to someone. A durable cover is included, and there are two display colors, orange and blue, for the backlights that you see when the machine is set on am, fm, phono, and cd.
I am happy to say that the record playing part of the machine is automatic and not digitalized. Although this means you must move the arm manually, it still feels dated and 'cool'. I liked this because it enabled me to listen to my mother's old records the way that she would have 30 years ago. However, the arm does not automatically come off the album once it is done playing, like a lot of the old ones. You have to do that yourself, as well. The radio feature has a nifty old-fashioned station selector, as well, which only adds to the feeling. However, the CD drive does have a small digital function so that you can see what song you are listening to.
Overall, this is one of the best three-in-one turntables on the market. The smaller, flat ones that are claimed to be more high-tech actually tend to skip a lot more. If you're looking for a turntable and want a genuine dated-feeling one but don't want to risk the problems with second-hand ones (like my old one, which turned out to have a huge problem with the amplifier), then this is the way to go. I haven't had any problems with this one.
