We have tried many brands of blank DVD's over the years. It was always hit and miss burning them; even if they seemed to burn okay, playback was a challenge.
For the past two years now, we use the TDK DVD-R exclusively. No problems burning them on either of our two DVD burners and they playback in any DVD player (ours, friend's, family's, neighbor's). ...and we never make coasters anymore! None better.

From what I've read in the technical literature, there are two brands of CD/DVD media which are consistently superior; they are TDK and Verbatim. I have no particular loyalty to either and usually buy the one found first. I have had nothing but good results from either brand. I should point out that I have not used the re-writable forms of these dics but I am assuming that the quality is comparably good.Customer Review: A Great Product

I have used over 24 discs so far and I've only had trouble with one, but I'm not sure if it was the disc itself or the movie I was burning. Overall the product has worked wonderfully. I was a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews, but I believe I made the right decision for me. I bought the TDK DVDs because the price was right. When you have something as good as TDK DVDs on sale, cheap, you jump!
I really like the simplistic dove grey finish. It makes the discs look suave. The flamboyant, silver polkadotted ones never really made me feel that I was getting my bucks worth. When they go on sale again I'm going to buy more.

I enjoy making slideshow DVDs of the digital pictures we take of our travels and sharing them with family and friends. Many were having trouble playing them and I was talking with a very knowledgable friend who sells Video DVD's he makes and he told me he only uses TDK and has little or no complaints, soooo I tried them. They work great... I wouldn't change!!
