I ordered this filter for the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens. I opted for the Sunpak filter over the Tiffen because it was similar in price and at the time the Sunpak had received better reviews. As other reviewers have pointed out, the only real purpose of a UV filter is to protect your lens from scratches, dust, fingerprints, etc. This filter definitely does that, and I haven't noticed any real problem with ghosting/lens flare caused by the filter (obviously, you can always take it off if it's an issue). Nor were there any specs of dirt or imperfections on the filter when it arrived--I've ordered this filter as well as the 58 mm version and both were crystal clear.
I considered taking off one star because the filter didn't thread onto the lens quite as smoothly as I thought it should, but 1) I can't say for sure this is due to the filter and not the lens itself, and 2) it's no big deal, since it did thread onto the lens and fits snugly anyway.
If you have an expensive lens you may want to spend a little more on a higher-quality UV filter, but this one has been great for the lens I mentioned above and you really can't go wrong for the price.
