Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sunpak 620-060 TripodCustomer Review: Solid, useful, affordable! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this tripod because I needed a solid, general-use tripod, a friend suggested Sunpak and Slik tripods as good brands, and I'm on a student's budget.I was wowed with this tripod from the moment I got it out of the box. It's attractive, it's much more solid than I expected from a couple pounds of aluminium and plastic, and it's a breeze to set up and play with. The various screws, cranks, and levers are easy to operate and it's simple to figure out which does what. I don't need the two quick-change plates, personally, but they're fun to play with and I'd imagine they'd be quite useful. Same goes for the retractable leg-spikes (I don't shoot outdoors much). One caveat: it's not dead steady, just pretty darn steady. If you're going to be shooting a lot on uneven terrain, shakey ground, or high winds, well, what are you doing buying a cheap tripod? That camera's pricey! Alternatively, a bag of rocks hung from the base of the center pole can do wonders for stability. All in all, an amazing tripod for such a low price.
Customer Review: No Way! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this because I wanted to replace a small portable tripod that I carried in my backpack. That tripod got run over by a truck - It's a long story.
Well, I didn't have a ruler handy when I ordered it, so I had to guess how big it would really be. It is much bigger than I thought it would be, so it cannot serve as a replacement for my small tripod.
But who cares! For the price, this thing is a steal. I didn't know what "Extra Quick-Release Mounting Plate" meant. I figured it comes off REALLY easily or something. Well, "Extra" modifies "Mounting Plate", so you get an extra mounting plate - Cool!
The base of the legs have adjustable rubber feet so that you can adjust to expose or cover metal spikes. The spikes give extra stability on soft surfaces like grass or dirt.
There are better tripods out there, but for the price, this one is really hard to beat.
Customer Review: Excellent value! money well spent!! Summary: 5 Stars
I was considering spending $95 for a sturdy tripod but felt it was too much of money to spend on a tripod so decided to check out this model. Since this model was much cheaper than the one I had my eyes on, I was skeptical about its build quality. You shouldn't. This is a very well made and sturdy product. They even include extra quick release platform with bubble level (so you know if the camcorder is placed even). This is really handy if you have more than one camera or have both camera & camcorder. You can just quickly release camera without screwing/unscrewing from the tripod. I am sure you can find better built tripod but this unit does the job for a casual user like me. I highly recommend this unit and considering its price, it's a bargain!
Customer Review: Great for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this to help me create some of my student films. I attach my camcorder and bam! It is sturdy and has adjustable legs. Just the other day I set it up in my car for a moving shot, and It looked great! Each leg can be extended individually, so with a little creativity, you can fit it almost anywhere.
You can adjust the tightness for the swivel head so if you want it to stay steady, just tighten. If you want to move it around, you can loosen it according to how much you want to move it. It also comes with a quick release so if you need your camera handheld quickly, you can.
I think that for $30, you can't beat it. I was hoping it wasn't cheap and a waste of money and I'm glad to say, money well spent!!
Customer Review: Excellent tripod and value! Summary: 5 Stars
I've been quite pleased with this tripod, starting with its price. It is customizable not only in the various positions, but with varying tension on some of the adjustments, you can set either a firm hold or flexibility to move on demand. It's light and portable, but I've found it to be stable with the legs at their widest, or even with a much narrower stance (in tight spots). The second mounting place is handy since I do have a second camera I sometimes use. Mine does not have a hook at the center bottom (for a weight), but I haven't needed it. Further, the adjustable feet (which can transition from rubber on hard surfaces to spikes for terrain) have also beed useful. I can't think of anything else I'd wish for on this tripod!
