Customer Review: Armors your iPod
Summary: 5 Stars

While I love my nano and it's sleekness and diminutive size, it's a really fragile little item. Even in a leather case, I never felt like the thing was truly protected, especially the screen.

This thing fixes all that. I no longer have to baby my nano. I toss it in my pocket with keys and my cell phone and never worry about it. It's that tough. You can literally (and I'm not recommending this) drop your iPod from waist height on to concrete and it'll just bounce slightly. The screen is protected by a thick piece of plastic with a rubber ring around the back so that it doesn't scratch your iPod.

Another reviewer said the nano moves around in this case. Either he has a non-standard or defective case or his nano is not 2nd gen. My nano does not shift in this case; in fact it's rather difficult just to get it in or out, but I consider that a benefit because the only thing holding it in there is friction. As far as the click wheel being hard to access, I suppose if you have really large thumbs it might be an issue, but to me it's more convenient than ever because you can so obviously tell where the wheel is in your pocket. Also note that unlike many iPod cases with belt clips, the nub that holds the belt clip is entirely removable for pocket use. Very few cases do that and you're left with an unneeded protrusion.

This case just looks cool too. I was fiddling around with it standing in line one day and the guy behind me was obviously checking it out. He leans over and says "what is that like an armored iPod? I didn't know they made those". No, sir, they don't, but you can armor it yourself.

One caveat: mine came covered in that rubbery "grease" that some products seem to come with (think brand new tires--run your hand over it and it's got a greasy feeling). It comes off on your hands and is just generally slimy. It's easy to fix though: I washed mine in the sink with warm water and hand soap. Done; no more greasy feeling. I haven't heard this mentioned in other reviews so I'm not sure if they all come like this.

I hope they offer replacement screen protectors for this because I plan on using it for the life of the iPod, although the protector has no scratches yet after a few weeks of use.

Another negative is that you cannot use this with a dock, but that's an issue with lots of cases and I just use the cable that came with the iPod.

I love this case. I'm no longer afraid to let my iPod hang out in my jacket pocket, ready to use when I want it.

Customer Review: A great protection for my nano
Summary: 5 Stars

All iPod accessories are over-priced, that is just a fact. On the other hand, you generally tend to get what you pay for in them (compare a $5 case to a $25 case sometime).

I'd have to say that of all the cases I have tried for my iPod nano, the ToughSkin is by far the one I feel keeps my nano the safest. The size of the plaer itself always made me nervous, as if I might snap it in half just picking it up. This case gives it some bult and some weight, but not too much - it still feels like a light slick machine. Now when I set it down on my desk it makes a nice "thunk" sound, I know it is protected for the many times I am likely to drop it in the coming years.

The swivel clip it comes with was extremely easy to remove, and that is what I did as soon as I got the skin. With the case on, the nano still fits easily in my jeans pocket.

Headphones and charger areas are very easy to get to, as is the Hold button. The screen is totally visible (some cases cover part of it, bad designs), and I have no problems at all using the buttons/dial.

For anyone who wants rugged drop-protection, this is the BEST I've found for it. If you are looking for something that won't change the look or the size of your iPod, you might want to check out a thin silicon, neoprene, or leather slip-on case.

Customer Review: Having trashed everything from a temperature gauge to a documentary here
Summary: 5 Stars

it's a pleasure to recommend something without reservation. This study little thing does what it was designed to. It obviously had more than a little thought put into it and possesses none of the usual defects of small, cheap, once in a lifetime purchases. Let me assure those put off by a negative review or two that the thing fits my 2G ipod nano perfectly, not too tight when I put it on, not so loose that later adjustment is necessary. The plastic screen protector is just fine: what do some of these reviewers expect, leaded crystal? Heated washer nozzles? The belt clip is a little large but you can take or leave it: the male attachment on the cover itself is seriously and reassuringly strong but can be removed easily if you take the nano out first. If you were actually to use it to attach your nano to your belt (you dork) you would be dissatisfied in the end with anything smaller. True, it doesn't spontaneously compose continental philosophy or function very well as a sex toy. But if you want something to protect your nano the thing can't be beat. Oh, I have no idea who the manufacturers are, the reviews were positive so I clicked.

Customer Review: I love the ToughSkin!
Summary: 5 Stars

I leave my Nano in the ToughSkin pretty much all of the time.

It is very protective, and makes the nano a little bit larger, which feels better in my hand. It comes with an optional built-in belt clip, which is how I usually secure it when I'm walking or running. I've used the belt clip to attach it to my waist, my pocket, and to my knapsack. It has worked well for all of the above.

The belt clip has an easy to use quick release mechanism, which I often use to see what the display says, when I want to choose a new song/podcast to listen to.

Nothing covers the wheel, so the controls work normally.

At the bottom, the ToughSkin is open, so I can plug it in to my computer, or plug the Nike+iPod device without having to remove the ToughSkin.

Overall, I'm *very* happy with it.

Customer Review: Exceeded expectations
Summary: 5 Stars

After a rebate, I got paid a dollar to take this. How could I pass up a deal like that? I'm very glad I bought this. I am very hard on my personal electronics, and both my phone and nano go flying at least once a week. I was using the Agent 18 Shock Kit cover and wasn't entirely happy--I didn't think it absorbed shocks well, the rubber bumpers fell off, and it was very hard to take my nano out of it. I absolutely love this Speck cover. My 2nd gen nano fits into it perfectly and it protects very, very well. I really love the ridges; they make it much easier to find while rooting around in my bag. I just wish it was clear so I could actually see the red on my nano, but at least the center button shows red.
