Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Speck Products iPod Video ToughSkin w/ Belt Clip - BlackCustomer Review: Rubberized Ipod Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this, like many others here, for a stronger layer of protection for my new 80gig iPod. I read many reviews, and looked at many case protectors, but I think I made the best choice with the Speck Toughskin. It's a lot thicker than anything else I've seen -- which is great because I'm never without my iPod, so it gets exposed and bumped in a lot of different environments. My iPod's finish doesn't have a scratch on it yet, thanks to this rubbersized shield from the elements. I love the screen protector, although it is a little tricky to get in place without putting fingerprints on it. The 360-swivel belt clip also makes a handy stand and gives easy access when you're walking or biking. One minor drawback: If you're planning on using a dock-station, it's a little bit of a burden to pull the iPod in and out of the skin, as it slips into the skin through the window port. All in all, a great product and a small price to pay to protect a fairly large investment.
Customer Review: It's like cheap ipod insurance Summary: 5 Stars
I'm surprised no one mentioned the service; I ordered a toughskin for my black 30g video ipod the day before yesterday, and did a double take when I found the package in my mailbox this afternoon.
As for the case, the rubber feels really sturdy and the design is pretty cool. I did a test drop from 3 feet (about the height where my ipod is when I'm holding it) and the song didn't even skip. The headphone jack, USB plug, and hold button are all accessible so you really never have take the ipod out of the case. Some cloth does stick onto the case, though not as much as I expected - just wipe your finger over it once and it's clean. I'm very satisfied...my ipod's surface won't see the light of day for years, probably.
Customer Review: Best ipod case for active people Summary: 5 Stars
I am a mildly active person and don't have time to worry about all of my equipment. Enter the Speck tough skin. This case, although adding to the size of the ipod, shields it in a thick layer of rubber/silicone. There is also a hard plastic screen cover that has a rubber ring to prevent it from sliding around. Once placed inside the case, I feel the ipod is as indestructible as an ipod could be. I have dropped mine on several occasions and it just bounces in the case with no harm to the equipment. The only issue with dropping it, is the pause in the music! I have not tried other cases, but I have no reason to. The Speck case does a perfect job of protecting my ipod and it has that ever cool slightly high-teck military look.
Customer Review: No nonsense protection Summary: 5 Stars
The ToughSkin lives up to its name. I use my iPod mainly in my car, but shuttling it back and forth between computer and automobile, usually with handsfull of mail and other detritus, I've dropped my iPod before. No damage beyond a few scratches but now that it's encased inside this thing, it's safe.
Funny, it just stretches open at the window opening... stuff the ipod in, position the enclosed clear shield for the window, and it's ready to go. My iPod is black so it's good looking, in the same way the Incredible Hulk is good looking.
IF you want to stuff your iPod in your pocket, you might want to keep looking. Otherwise this thing is simple, durable, and tough.
Customer Review: Fits Great On My 30gb iPod! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm not sure what the difference is between what I have and some of the other reviewers, but I have absolutely NO problems with this case on my 30gb iPod. Granted, I'm 31 years old and take good care of my toys, but I would highly recommend this product! The screen guard fits snugly on top of the iPod screen and doesn't move around on me. I also have no problems with the iPod itself inside the case as the insert makes it fit perfectly. As far as the bulk/weight is concerned - it's the Video iPod, not the Nano. You know what you have, now invest in its longevity.
Take care of your electronics and everything should be fine. Use this case and you're only improving the odds.
