My Slingbox Solo was a great purchase. I ran into some router port-forwarding issues during my initial setup, but the outstanding Slingbox Support Tech was able to get this configured for me (using remote access) very quickly. I now have the ability to view programs from my HD Tivo on any web-enabled PC (note: the video is not rebroadcast in HD, but the quality and aspect ratio are outstanding).
I'm winding down on my 30-day trial period of the Windows Mobile software, I plan to purchase it once I'm done with this review. Note that this software costs $30 (for some reason I thought it was free when I purchased my Slingbox). The picture and sound quality on my Verizon XV6900 are very impressive. I now have all the content of my HD Tivo (along with live TV) available wherever I have cell coverage.
I strongly recommend the Slingbox Solo.

If you want to watch your cable or sattelite box while you're away from home, this product is fantastic.
I have a cable modem as well as a DVR/Cable box at my house. I had the Slingbox SOLO connected to both and the software running on a MacBook Pro in less than a half hour. I have also installed the software on a Windows laptop and it works equally well.
Not only have I been able to view live and recorded programs on these computers, but I also discovered that the Slingbox SOLO works with my phone (Palm Treo). This has led to some very interesting situations such as being in a football stadium watching a game in person while watching another live game on my phone through my home cable box.
I honestly can't think of a better technology product for the money.

Amazon had the lowest price and extremely fast shipping on this great product. As for the Sling Box, it is a great invention. It is one of those technology fixes (like a TiVo) that you cannot truly appreciate until you actually have one up and running,
I love being to access my home TV on my MacBook Pro anywhere I have a hard-wire or WiFi connection. Traveling anywhere in the world, I can access my programs and my TiVo. Setup can be a little challenging but as a technologically sophisticated user, I had it operational in 20 minutes. I hear that there tech support is very helpful.
I will definitely purchase one for my son as he leaves for college next year. This will save me on paying for a cable bill. Good work Sling Media and Amazon.

If you spend any time in hotels, with marginal internet access (meaning Hulu doesn't work), and with limited channels (meaning you don't get The Daily Show), you need one of these.
I have an older Tivo sitting in our guest bedroom with one of these hooked up to it, and even with really marginal internet speeds in my hotel, I get really decent video & audio quality from the Slingbox back in my house.
And if you're worried about how it might be difficult to set up your router so you can reach your Slingbox from the far side of the internet, the Sling software installation took care of all of this automatically. And they've got a server set up out there so they can test that it works for you, before you ever go out on the road.

I am an expatriot and recently purchased the Slingbox Solo. This is by far the most exciting product in my home electronics lineup. After having had to endure years of crummy local European TV, I'm able to get hundreds of U.S. channels, live sports, local news. The Slingbox is at a friend's house in the U.S. connected to a cable-box with DVR. I am recording so much that I can hardly keep up. The picture quality and sound are quite amazing considering I am watching live TV. The only issue I can mention has nothing to do with the Slingbox itself. Sometimes my bandwidth speed fluctuates which can affect picture quality. That's a problem with my ISP. I'd highly recommend the Slingbox to anyone living/studying abroad.
