Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sling Media Slingbox PRO (SB200-100)Customer Review: This has changed my tv watching... forever Summary: 5 Stars
I go to school in California but I have no cable... what to do? Back at home on the east coast we have Verizon Fios with DVR and a Tivo... for $5 a month I rent another Verizon box that I have full control over---> I can control "on demand", TV, the DVR and the like and save about $50 a month. The quality is great on my laptop and the control is fantastic (controls consistently lag between 1-2 seconds though). I am still debating getting Slingplayer Mobile for my Treo 700p, but may decide against it... I am an engineering grad student; maybe I shouldn't have my TV EVERYWHERE... but just so you know, it's possible with slingbox pro if you should choose to do so ;-)
Customer Review: Slinging around the world Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the Slingbox Pro to enable my Brother & his family to catch some US TV. My hope is that it might lessen some of the culture shock they are experiencing since moving to Japan.
I also purchased a second hand TiVo II to connect with the Slingbox.
The setup of the Slingbox Pro was very simple. I did experience a slight difficulty in getting the Slingbox to sling outside my internal LAN. The Slingbox tries to use UPnP configuration to setup the ports it needs to communicate with the Sling server and then with the client outside the network. I needed to enable UPnP on my router and rerun the setup, and then things went smoothly.
Customer Review: Best device since TIVO Summary: 5 Stars
This thing is awesome. I have used it to watch football games on my cell phone while walking through Disney World. I have used it to watch my home TV on my laptop while in airports and in hotel rooms. I even used it to watch TV on my laptop using my home wifi will relaxing in the hot tub. The only problems I have had with it are due to internet speed. You will want to have a good amount of upload bandwidth at your home to get the best picture over the internet. Otherwise it will stutter. Download speed of 150k is adequate as long as the upload speed is there. Insanely easy to set up and get it working. I highly recommend this product.
Customer Review: You'll wonder, "Why did I wait so long to buy this?" Summary: 5 Stars
I just want to add my support for Slingbox. Even after reading the reviews, I tried to limit my expectations. But, every positive thing is correct. It works, it's easy to set up, and it comes with lots of cable, (minus the HD one.) I just wish I jumped on board sooner. I got this for $213, two hundred thirteen dollars here on Amazon in April 2007. Stop looking, buy it here!
Can I imagine a better product? Of course! Just combine a DVR with an AppleTV along with Slingbox functionality and there you have a perfect magic video box. Is there a better product today that lets me watch TV away from home? I don't know of any.
Customer Review: Sweeeeeeeeet Summary: 5 Stars
It's awesome. I bought this for my Dad who travels a lot. Now he can actually watch the cable tv he pays for every month where ever he goes! At home, the picture streams perfectly. No lag, nice picture, and easy to setup. When you're away from home, it just takes a few seconds to buffer then you're good to go. He also has a Palm Treo 700 that I installed Sling Mobile on and he was watching the NFL playoffs on his drive down to D.C.! It does take a little longer to buffer on your cell phone but once it optimizes, it's great! I would recommend this to ANYONE! Worth way more than the intial one-time cost to buy!
