I received this as a gift and was sceptical at first. I thought about returning it as I wasn't sure how much I would use it. I went ahead and hooked it up and this is the greatest invention since maybe the wheel. Maybe not that great, but it is a cool gadget. It was very easy to hook up to my Dish DV and a dvd player. Software installation took a little while as there was an upgrade that needed to be installed. Configuration is easy and takes minutes. On a newer laptop this thing works very well on a fast connection. I took it to work where the connection is junk and it still worked well but was a little jerky and pixelated at full screen. I am very happy with the Slingbox and can now watch my DVR when i get stuck out of town.Customer Review: Slingbox Pro--check your HD adpater

I purchased the Slingbox Pro and HD adapter in order to be able to watch cable from any room in the house. System works great, both in the house and out on the road. You do need to have a solid fast internet connection, and use in a busy hotel or public access point does cause glitches and dropouts.
Check with your cable provide before buying the HD adapter. I have Brighthouse HD and use a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD DVR connected via HDMI to Samsung LCD. Brighthouse sets up the DVR so that when the HDMI output is in use the component video output is disabled--bit of a problem when trying to feed a Slingbox from the component outputs! SlingBox Pro with HD cable hooked up to a DEDICATED HD DVR Cable Box on Long Island, NY over broadband via Cablevision's Optimum Online.
Laptop with SlingPlayer client installed hooked up to a TV and Surround Sound System via molded S-Video/RCA cable in Raleigh, NC over broadband via Time Warner's Road Runner.
Outcome:
Watched the Met's opener on April 1, 2007 beat the World Champion St. Louis Cardinals 6-1.

I was a little skeptical about this product, but the reviews convinced me to give it a try. My wife actually bought it for me as a Christmas gift, but I have waited over a month to set it up. I figured it would take a long time to set up and was worried that I would not have the technical expertise to install it correctly. It took me around a half hour and I only ran into a small problem with my router. I put a splice on the cable line and connected it directly to the internet router. I did not install it to any other connection points, so installation may be more difficult. I would highly recommend getting this product, especially if you don't mind watching t.v. on your computer.Customer Review: Easy to use, fun, great tech support website

I wasn't sure what I was getting here. I knew it looked fun, interesting, and was getting lots of publicity. This company is truly an innovative company, it appears they really care about their customers, and a lot of the interactions with the device is smart. It works very well for me, though my DVR model is still not yet supported.
It does get a little warm as does anything electronic. The OEM box and shipping materials were very high.
The website is very complete and well organized. The live help the company provides uses a remote tool to help you set your internet router up if you need it, on a Sunday night, at what ever hour. I was very impressed.
